Zolanders are the sapient natives to Zolan. At some point in their past, their species created a skin-altering gene, and thereby accidentally also created a genetic offshoot to their own species which became known as the Clawdite. Once the New Republic had been founded, the Zolan Civil War broke out between the two subspecies, with the Clawdites coming out as the victors. With that, the Zolanders were dominated by their creations, their accidents.
