The Yonhet are a client species of the Covenant native to moon of Yonhe, known for their skills as traders and smugglers.
Overview[]
As part of the Covenant Fringe, the Yonhet had very little involvement with the hegemony itself. Due to their insignificant military viability and cynical viewpoint of the Great Journey, the Covenant utilised their species' signature skillsets to acquire various resources without officially integrating them into their empire.
During the Human-Covenant War, the Yonhet actively avoided the conflict due to the risks it posed to their exploration and trading efforts, as well as a general agreement it was not their fight to be involved with. After the collapse of the Covenant, many Yonhet took their chances and emerged from hiding, offering their services as smugglers or merchants across the galaxy. Others found themselves enslaved by Covenant remnant factions or Kig-Yar pirates.
Biology[]
Yonhet are a Humanoid species with milky-pale skin, deep-set eyes and droopy mouths containing sharp teeth. They also possess gills on their jawline and a pair of slit-like nostrils. The Yonhet as a species seem to share an innate talent for locating and acquiring items other species would find extremely difficult to find. Individual Yonhet are also known to refer to themselves in third person in everyday speech.
