The Yawack is an animal native to the planet TR-JJ 768.
Biology[]
The Yawack is a quadrupedal wooly horned-ox like creature that lives in migratory herds on the arctic steppes. Originally the Yawack served as a primary source of meat to the native Puntas. Of course the Puntas never hunted them, but journeyed to places which sick or dying yawacks would go to rest. The Puntas would respectfully thank the animal for offering its meat but proceeding to butcher the animals for the tribe.
However the species has come under threat by a pseudo-human/Punta hybrid species created by a lone human survivor of a crash. Having built a primitive industrial society, these humanoids lack the respect and conservative as the native Puntas. Instead trap and capture herds of yawacks to slaughterhouses where they are killed and butchered to feeding the burgeoning populace. Hunters and trappers out in the wild are forbidden from hunting these animals in the native steppes though due to the distance from the city and lack of oversight of the Peerage they engage in wasteful slaughtering of the beasts through target practice, killing even females and their young.
