Alien Species

The Wraith Class or Wraith Legion are a series of robots that are charged in wiping out deplorables in the society created by the Forgers Alliance.

Design[]

Wraith are large robotic humanoids standing several meters tall. They are capable of immense strength and fire heat from their optics. Their inner workings are a mystery to most as they are built and trained by other Wraith to be perfect killing machines. They also appear to have self-repairing mechanisms.

History[]

In the beginning, the Forgers were a young race that existed in the galaxy. At the time of their rise to the stars, the galaxy was facing a critical stage as nearly of all of machine life was destroyed by an malignant entity known as the Wraithiest that corrupted and influence life with death and destruction. Opposing it was an older race known as the Wraith Legion, a brave valiant army of crusaders that were immune to its corruption. However for all their might, the Wraith were unable to destroy the Wraithiest, only fighting from world to world, at the cost of many lives.

Ironically the Forgers succeeded with intellect where physical might failed. They were immune to the Wraithiest's powers and using their science, they weakened the Wraithiest to the point they were able to trap the entity within their planet.

Afterwards the Wraith and Forgers forged an alliance to rebuild the galaxy. Where the Wraith would defend and pacify the stars, the Forgers would create a society of artificial machines.

Millennia passed when the unthinkable happened a Wraith refused his orders to killed Child units of a heretical world, and even wounded his own fellows. After he did the deed, the Wraith unit allowed himself to be apprehended by his kin. Due to his merits of a warrior, the Wraith Triumvirate permitted the Wraith to be subjected under the judicial system of the Forgers as per his request and it was believed it would foster better understanding between their two civilizations.

The punishment for his crime would be the Kill Lock, a mechanism in which his life-signs would be intricately linked to three other criminals, a rogue Artisan Class who committed the crime of murdering his co-workers, a alcoholic Labor Class who committed unintended manslaughter and a Child Class who was sentenced because it was defective. Under the effect of the Kill Lock, should any of the units be destroyed all would share it fate.

The Artisan Class through its cunning and manipulation managed to convince its companions their survival laid in seeking the inventor of the Kill Lock. After tracking down the hermit she pointed them out to a desolate planet where they might find freedom from the Kill Lock. However it was a trap, as the quartet were attacked by two Leviathan Class units. The Labor Class was gravely injured leaving only the Wraith Class alone to deal with the two savage brutes. The Artisan and Child took shelter in a bunker where they found another rogue Artisan, the first of its kind to have gone rogue waiting. It revealed that it had developed a method of nullifying the Kill Lock by reducing the number of units that they needed to ensure their survival, The two Leviathan Class and a Mediator Class were originally part of the other Artisan's Kill Lock tether, but the latter used its skill to merging its consciousness with Mediator thus leaving three units in a more stable bond than four.

The second Artisan revealed that he knew about its predecessor's method. It desired to know the method of transferring its mind into another unit. In the past after the Wraith unit was interned in a prison to be processed for the Kill Lock, the Artisan took the opportunity to create a heinous enough crime to be sentenced alongside it. The Artisan's plan was to manipulate his group in seeking out the other Artisan, for the secret. Though the only thing the Artisan did not account for was that a Child unit would be sentenced to the Kill Lock. A scuffle emerged between the two Artisan, though when it appeared that the senior Artisan had the upper hand, the Child unit came to its companion's aid at the cost of its life, but it provided a distraction to allow the junior Artisan to slay the other one. With the Artisan dead the two Leviathans were also killed via the the technological bond

The remaining members the Artisan and Wraith were mostly unharmed but the Laborer and Child were near death's door and it would not be too long before the other two joined them. In order to preserve its existence, the Artisan managed to extract the knowledge of the mind transfer form the other Artisan. The only catch was that the other mind must do so willingly. The Laborer knowing that his own life was a failure, but unwilling to allow an innocent to die, the Child, accepted the transfer into the Artisan. All that was left the Child would accepted the method. The Artisan then managed to play on the Wraith's sympathies for the Child, by convincing it the best way to remain safe was to have all their minds transfer into it as a Wraith was near indestructible.

The Wraith permitted this, however in doing so the Artisan hijack control over its body, achieving its true goal of becoming a amalgam entity know as the Artisan Wraith.

Culture[]

Wraith are not only a warrior race but also religious, continuously praying for forgiveness and the penance of their actions to cleanse the galaxy of heretics and sinners. Wraith Class robots are described as entirely self-sustaining. Even Artisan Class robots do not know their inner working, as only the Wraith Class can create more of their numbers.

Unlike the other classes, they do not act under the direct orders of the Forgers, but more or less act as a separate independent entity. They are governed by the Wraith Triumvirate composed of three representatives:

  • Legion Envoy: Military enforcer among an army of military enforcers and the commander of all ground forces.
  • Legion Viscount: Serves as the main diplomat and communicator to outside parties and the commander of the air forces.
  • Legion Zenith: The World Breaker. The decider of which worlds to save or end.
