Alien Species

Worms are a sapient, microscopic vermiform species which live inside the bodies of other life forms. Their world of origin is not known, but they are known to be present in food served in interstellar truck stops and restaurants, and identify themselves as being "what makes special sauce so special".

Biology[]

Worms are microscopic creatures with spindly arms, didactyl hands, facial barbels, segmented bodies and no legs. Although Prof. Farnsworth identified the "eggs" in an egg salad sandwich as "Worm eggs", Worms actually reproduce asexually by clouds of spores, which suggests that the "eggs" might have been cysts. They seem to be very short-lived, as multiple generations pass over the course of a single day.

Despite being referred to as parasites, Worms are actually symbionts which provide several benefits to their host, ranging from healing wounds almost instantaneously to making alterations to the nervous and muscular systems which greatly enhance the host's intelligence, strength and skills.

Culture and society[]

Worms are civilized creatures and their societies are governed by a Lord Mayor. While they center their civilization on the host's digestive system and particularly the colon (which they pronounce as "cologne"), Worms can be found throughout the host's entire body, ready to heal injuries and fight potential pathogens.
