Whiz-bangs are a non-sapient species of tiny but heavily armored beetle-like insectoids which inhabit the mist-covered swamps of Venus. They can fly at nearly supersonic speed, up to 750 mph (1207.01 km/h). Despite being no larger than the point of a fountain pen, their armour and speed make them extremely dangerous, capable of perforating clothes, skin and flesh upon impact.

Whiz-bangs are attracted by the smell of tobacco, which is similar to that of a Venusian plant that is pollinated by them.
