The Water People are a sapient species of mysterious aquatic shapeshifters which send sentinels to other worlds to infiltrate them and attempt to conquer them.
Biology[]
The natural appearance of this species is not known, although Lioa claims that they are small and very beautiful.
Like the Thing, they can assimilate other creatures to assume their appearance. However, the imitation is not perfect, as exemplified when Xos and Lioa killed and assumed the appearance of a couple of Human divers, complete with diving suits for skin, but with alterations such as webbed hands, which presumably reflect their original biological make-up.
Their need to stay hydrated is also believed to be an intrinsic aspect of their biology, as is their instinctive fear of fire, which, according to Lioa, derives from a time in which volcanic eruptions almost destroyed their planet, poisoning the atmosphere and forcing them to adapt to an aquatic existence to escape the smoke and the flames.
When two members of this species make physical contact with each other, they can generate electric discharges powerful enough to incapacitate or even kill other creatures.
Culture and society[]
According to Lioa, their homeworld doesn't have a moon like Earth's, neither does it have trees or hills covered in vegetation.

Notes[]
- A member of this species named Lioa once told Mark Harris that they were, in fact, from the same planet. However, this is heavily implied to have been a deception on her part.
