Alien Species

This unnamed humanoid species were members of the Intergalactic Council. A male member of this species, Warden Zanti, was the warden of the maximum security Prison Asteroid-Sector 17.

Biology[]

Members of this species are short, hairless humanoids with obese bodies and pale skin. The only known member of this species used a hover pad to move, which obscured any legs he had, leaving the natural method of locomotion for this species unknown. Notably, they have tall craniums, and in place of ears, they have a tube-like protrusion hanging down from both sides of their craniums, making the front of their heads resemble an organic version of Darth Vader's helmet. Their faces and hands are otherwise Human-like.

Culture and society[]

Little is known of the society of Warden Zanti's species, although it is known that they were a part of the Intergalactic Council. Members of this species are also known to use technology for locomotion, and serve in positions of authority within the Intergalactic Council, either as a part of the organization's ruling body or in its prison system. Their clothing, at least for prison wardens, consisted of white tunics and blue shawls. It is unknown what became of the society of this species after the Intergalactic Council dissolved. The language of this species is identical to English.

Technology[]

This species had access to the highly advanced technology of the Intergalactic Council, such as hovering pads capable of holding their weight and smoothly levitating, with no visible engines. They also possess real-time holographic interstellar communications equipment.

History[]

At some point before 1986, this species joined the Intergalactic Council, and a male member of this species, Zanti, became the warden of the maximum security Prison Asteroid-Sector 17. During his time as warden, he hired a duo of Nothing Face bounty hunters known as Ug and Lee, disapproving of their destructive methods. In 1986, a group of eight Crite prisoners were brought to Prison Asteroid-Sector 17, where Zanti cleared the ship for landing, immediately calling in a group of alien prison guards designated as Shock Control to bring the Crites to the termination ward. However, when Shock Control approached, the Crites managed to tamper with technology within their cage and cause an explosion, killing and wounding several guards, before stealing a ship to escape. Seeing the Crites get away, even destroying a defense turret, Zanti called in Ug and Lee, explaining the situation to them and offering the usual payment upon the complete termination of the Crites. As the bounty hunters left, Zanti contacted them again, urging them not to be so destructive this time, but got cut off mid-sentence by Ug deactivating the transmission.

Two years later, Zanti, now head of the Intergalactic Council's ruling body, contacted Ug and Lee again, who were now joined by a Human named Charlie McFadden. After getting confirmation that all of the trio's other bounties had been secured, Zanti told them that a G-Scan had been carried out over Earth, and detected more living Crites. After hiring the bounty hunters to complete their job, Zanti was not heard from again by Humans. By 1999, the Intergalactic Council changed its policy concerning endangered species, now decreeing that no species, regardless of how dangerous they are, can be rendered extinct via termination, presumably on orders from Zanti. It is unknown what became of Zanti or the rest of his species after the Intergalactic Council dissolved sometime between 1999 and 2045, but it is known that Humans eventually became an interstellar power and learned of the Council, so it is possible that Zanti's species opened up relations with Earth.

Appearances[]

  • Critters (1986)
  • Critters 2: The Main Course (1988)

Notes[]

  • In the second film, the appearance of Warden Zanti's species drastically changed.

Rather than being portrayed by an actor wearing heavy makeup and a prosthetic cranium, Zanti was portrayed by a stop-motion figure voiced by a different actor. The figure depicted a dark tan-skinned humanoid with spindly arms, gaunt, skeletal torsos, no nostrils, eyes sunken into skeletal sockets, and massive, rounded craniums with no visible external ears. Additionally, Zanti wore no visible clothes in the second film.
