The Vindrizi are a sapient species of symbiotic insectoids which live inside the bodies of other creatures. They were created by an unknown race about half a million years ago, to preserve their hosts' memories.
Biology[]
Vindrizi are centipede-like creatures which attach themselves to the back of a humanoid host. Rather than perforate the host's skin, the Vindrizi's body rapidly fuses with the host's and enters it without leaving any scars or orifices. Once inside, they have a beneficial effect on the host's health, curing conditions such as chronic pain and coughs.
It is possible for a Vindrizi to leave a host voluntarily or to be removed by force. However, once a Vindrizi leaves, the host will no longer be able to merge with another one.
Much like Trill Symbionts, the Vindrizi's minds are joined to the hosts' minds without either being suppressed, and the host gains access to all the memories of the Vindrizi.
Culture and society[]
The Vindrizi were created to record the lives, knowledge and memories of their hosts, and continued to dedicate themselves to preserving these memories long after the demise of their creators.
