Vegans are a giant humanoid species from Vega Superior, a world in the Vega system.
Biology[]
Vegans are humanoids with an externally Human-like appearance, although they have a stature of 9.14 meters. Additionally, they have two small flesh-covered horns on the sides of their foreheads, which actually contain parts of their brains. These horns radiate an anti-gravity field that enables them to stand under the effects of Earth's gravity despite their stature, and presumably negated the high gravity of Vega Superior, although they still appear to have trouble scaling steep inclines. Vegans do not appear able to use their anti-gravity fields on objects other than themselves. They are accustomed to a very similar atmosphere as Earth's, although its levels of nitrogen and oxygen are slightly different.
Culture and society[]
Vegans are ruled by an imperialist state, which has control of the entirety of the Vega system, and sought to control worlds beyond it, such as Earth. Lone Vegan scouts are sent out to other planets to determine if they are fit to conquer. While on a planet, Vegans are known to terrorize native populations under the guise of gods, using the disguise to claim sacrifices that enable them to better study the natives. Vegan scouts wear yellow armor with purple belts and capes, utilize their own brute strength as their weapons, and go by codenames consisting of a single number followed by a letter. Vegans also appear superstitious, and unfamiliar with superpowers, as displays of size-changing abilities by Human superheroes have caught them off-guard and made them believe Earth was cursed. Additionally, they only attempt to conquer races that they deem to be primitive.
Technology[]
Vegans have access to technology more advanced than Humans, including spacecraft capable of traveling at lightspeed, allowing them to easily cross the distance between Vega and the Sol system. Vegan scout spacecraft are flown by a single pilot, and resemble small domes, with two antennae on their backside, also somewhat resembling flying saucers. These spacecraft are also quite large, as to accommodate the size of Vegans, and have no visible external weapons. The pilot enters through a hatch atop the craft.
History[]
Vegans arose on Vega Superior, the fourth planet in the Vega system, growing to large sizes due to their anti-graviton horns. By the modern day, they had formed an empire, taking over the Vega system, and sought to conquer primitive worlds, sending agents to other planets to see the potential of other worlds. One agent, Agent 7M, was sent to Earth, landing on the peak of a mountain with sheer faces in Bora-Buru, Africa, but could not figure out how to climb down the mountain. Deciding to carry out his mission from the peak, he terrorized the local Humans, who believed him to be a deity and named him Colossus. Agent 7M demanded a Human sacrifice, as it would allow him to study Humans. Agent 7M's demand caused the natives to contact the Avengers, and Captain America relayed the information to two superheroes named Giant-Man and the Wasp, who took off to combat Agent 7M.
Giant-Man and the Wasp arrived at Agent 7M's peak by jet, but flew too close to him, allowing Agent 7M to grab their jet and throw it to the ground, but the heroes bailed out via parachute. Equipped with their size-changing suits, they climbed up the mountain unseen by Agent 7M, and engaged him using quick size changes and energy blasts, catching Agent 7M off-guard. However, Giant-Man was unable to grow large enough to properly counter Agent 7M, who threw Giant-Man around with relative ease, despite Wasp managing to knock Agent 7M off-balance with energy stings to his feet and striking his inner ears. Giant-Man was soon tired out by the size-changing and the fighting, allowing Agent 7M to gain the upper hand, and an attempt to size-change quickly further tires out Giant-Man, allowing Agent 7M to seize him and move to throw him off the cliff. However, Giant-Man managed to aim his fist at Agent 7M's chest, without making contact, and had Wasp fire a full power energy sting at Agent 7M, which managed to knock him back and make him drop Giant-Man. From Agent 7M's perspective, Giant-Man had knocked him down with invisible energy. Then, Giant-Man shrunk down to the point that Agent 7M could no longer see him. Thinking that Giant-Man had simply vanished, Agent 7M was frightened, believing that Humans were powerful sorcerers that could knock large opponents down with their minds, change size at will, and vanish from sight. Unable to comprehend such powers, Agent 7M fled to his ship and took off back to Vega Superior, alerting his superiors of the Human power, prompting the Vegan leaders to cancel the planned invasion of Earth.

Notes[]
- This species is canon to the Earth-616 continuity. Earth-5931 features a different Vegan species, featured earlier in Spaceman Vol 1 #5.
- Despite being from the Vega system, Agent 7M referred to the system as his "galaxy," as did Giant-Man and the Wasp.
