This article refers to the purported alien species to which the creatures reportedly seen in 1996 by people of Varginha, Brazil belong. According to other reports some of them were also captured by the Brazilian government. According to the book Alien Races, by Dante Santori and Petro, the race is known by the name of Akart.

Sightings[]

Varginha is a city of approximately 100,000 inhabitants in Minas Gerais, southeastern Brazil. In the afternoon of 20 January 1996, a group of three women ranging from 14 to 22 years old claimed to have seen an unfamiliar bipedal creature crouching on a small, abandoned piece of land in the suburbs of the city (on this location, especifically). They described the creature as being 1.6 meters (5 feet) tall, with a large head and very thin body, brown and oily skin, V-shaped feet, large red eyes and three protuberances on the top of its head. It seemed to be wobbly or unsteady as if it was hurt or sick.

Two of the girls, who were sisters, fled the location and told their mother they had seen the "devil". The mother initially did not believe them, but changed her mind when she visited the location afterwards and smelled a strong ammonia-like odor, saw the creature's footprints and found a dog sniffing the place.

After the girls related the incident to family and friends, rumors began appearing throughout the city regarding UFO sightings and alien creatures being abducted by the military. Two days later, another similar creature was allegedly found lying along a road. Three military trucks were supposedly sent to retrieve it. Another alien of the same species was reportedly seen at the local zoo by its janitor; the following months, three animals mysteriously died.
