The Unfathomables are creatures native to Paradise.
Biology[]
Unfathomables are non-human beings that live in an extradimensional realm where they rule. In Paradise, an Unfathomable can control the entire environment and reality based on individual preferences. This enables them to conjure wholly realistic or unrealistic environments. Due to the control they have over the realm, they have extra sensory senses that allows them to perceive everything that occurs within their territory.
Unfathomables so far seen appear to be somewhat humanoid, though this is a disguise that allows them to blend in human society so they can abduct humans to their world. Specimens have been shown to have different appearances from humanoid roots, vines or even tentacles, making it difficult to determine their true form.
Culture[]
According to a human scientist Dr. Herba, there is no definite consensus on whether these intelligent creatures are aliens, gods or demons, hence the name Unfathomables.
Behaviorally the Unfathomables govern the realm called Paradise. Unfathomables have a peculiar relationship with humans, in which they are friendly towards them and have no malicious intentions towards them, only genuine concern for them. Though this should not be interpreted as treating humans as equals, rather the opposite frankly as they see humans as semi-intelligent animals.
The world of Paradise is not just home to the Unfathomables and its unique ecosystem, but also humans who had been abducted to serve as pets to the dominant species of Paradise. Humans are a very popular pet to the Unfathomables, having an obsession with the species.
However Unfathomables have strict rules when adopting humans as pets. For one they are forbidden from taking humans who are living a good life on Earth. They can only bring humans to their world to raise as pets, for those who are about to die. Additionally the human must be given a choice to come to Paradise. And if the human refuses, Unfathomables must honor the human's choice to die. Unfathomables each can only afford to have a limited number of human pets. Thus they make a careful selection on their targets and location as traveling to Earth takes tremendous money and resources.
Typically an Unfathomable can visit Earth twice in their lifetime. Their reasoning being any more excursions to Earth by their kind will collapse the balance of nature if there was unrestricted access. While Unfathomables are aware of the destruction humans wrought to their own planet, they see it as part of the natural cycle. And thus deem their policies toward humanity to be protecting the species as a whole.
However humans who are brought to Paradise can no longer be allowed to return to Earth.
Technology[]
The exact location of Paradise is still unknown to human researchers, but according to the Unfathomables it is incredibly far from Earth even for t heir kind. While seemingly possessing reality-bending powers, outside their space, Unfathomables who visit Earth utilize a form of vehicle that resembles part coral or sea anemone, that also appears to be intangible normally to human beings. The vehicle cannot be perceive by normal humans, and usually remains anchored at a designated spot where a Unfathomable chooses. While otherworldly in appearance to the Unfathomables it would be analogous to an Earth car, Normally the vehicle cannot be interacted by humans, as there are various safety features to prevent wild humans from being hurt. Though it has been noted that a human with a heighten sense of intuition can see it and if they tamper with the core, such as tossing a stone at it, the stone with rebound back, killing the human.
