The Tulkun are an sentient whale-like species native to the oceans of Pandora.
Biology[]
The tulkun resemble whale-like creatures. In terms of its proportions, the tulkun dwarf any blue whale on Earth. They are possibly the largest fauna on Pandora and can grow up to 300 feet. Like other Pandoran creatures, tulkun have four orange eyes with two eyes on each side of the head. They have six flippers and six blowholes on their back. They possess plated armor that helps them defend against attacks though have a soft underbelly. There are two big brightly colored head crests that protrude from the front of their snouts.
Tulkun produce a special substance from a gland in their brains called "amrita" that completely stops the aging process of humans. Due to this substance this has mad ethe tulkun targets for whaling operations within the Resources Development Administration.
Culture[]
The tulkun are said to have a rich oral culture based on their songs which are rich in histories, mathematics, poetry, and sophisticated music. It has also been suggested that they are more intelligent and spiritual than humans. They hold a special relationship with the Na'vi reef clans, seeing them as of the same family.
Tulkun are highly non-violent, though in the past their species were aggressive, violent, vindictive, and highly territorial. The current tulkun culture abstains from violence to point retaliation of any kind no matter how justified was seen as taboo. Those that committed such offenses were exiled and labeled as outcasts.
