Transmetals 2 (also known as Transmetals II) are a subspecies of mutated bestial Cybertronians from the planet Cybertron and the evolved form of Transmetals.

Biology[]

Anatomy[]

Transmetals share a similar biology to other bestial Cybertronians, except their superstructures have been mutated to a more advanced degree than regular Transmetals. Technically speaking, their biological and mechanical elements are blended in equal parts between both robot and beast modes, resulting in an asymmetrical patchwork jumble that is frequently rather monstrous.

Despite lacking the mobility modes of regular Transmetals, Transmetals 2 are generally viewed as an enviable upgrade.

Powers and abilities[]

Transmetals 2 share many of the same abilities as other Cybertronians.

Transmetals 2 possess some degree of "supernatural" powers, the use of which was signified by conspicuous glows in their sparks and/or optics. Examples include vague visionary tendencies, superhuman strength and speed, an advanced healing factor, and telekinesis.

Though Dinobot II shares many of the same abilities as natural Transmetals 2, his advanced healing factor could also be attributed to him sharing half of Rampage's nigh-immortal spark.

Certain Transmetals 2 possess unique abilities. For example, Predacon Megatron can breathe both fire and ice whereas Tigerhawk possesses uncanny shamanic abilities of controlling a planet's weather and terrain almost at whim.

Transmetals 2 appear to have temporary resistance to the full effects of Megatron's transformation virus.

Weaknesses[]

Transmetals 2 share many of the same weaknesses as other Cybertronians.

Transmetals 2 can instantly be reverted to their original state by Megatron's transformation virus.

Culture and society[]

Transmetals 2 appear to share the same culture as other Cybertronians.

Most Transmetals 2 are a hyper-aggressive breed of warriors created as the result of Predacon leader Megatron's cloning experiments. Though affiliated with either the Maximals or Predacons, all of them are struggling to control their own violent tendencies and savage impulses.

However, there are several exceptions as some Transmetals 2 are the result of pre-existing Cybertronians being mutated into this state. The most prominent examples are Cheetor and Blackarachnia.

History[]

Primax Cluster[]

Primax 496.22 Alpha[]

The Transmetals 2 were created during the Beast Wars on prehistoric Earth through the use of an enigmatic piece of Vok technology known as the "Transmetal driver". Though its origin is unknown, the drive appears to give off the same type of energy or radiation as the quantum surge which created the regular Transmetals, perhaps in a stronger dose.

The first known Transmetal 2 was Dinobot 2, a clone of the deceased Dinobot that had been created by Megatron using a Maximal protoform stolen by the Predacons, a piece of Dinobot's CNA, and half of Rampage's spark.

The second known Transmetal 2 was Cheetor, who was transformed from his previous Transmetal state when he and Depth Charge attempted to thwart Megatron's cloning scheme.

The third known Transmetal 2 was renegade Predacon Blackarachnia, who sought to replicate Cheetor's mutation for herself only for the procedure to be interrupted by an unknowing Silverbolt.

Primax 704.08 Gamma[]

Under unknown circumstances, Optimus Minor was a Transmetal 2.

Primax 206.15 Gamma[]

Various Maximals and Predacons such as Ramulus, Optimus Minor, Scourge, Stinkbomb, Prowl, Night Glider, Sonar, and Scarem were Transmetals 2, despite only existing as protoforms beforehand. Similarly, Ravage was resurrected as a Transmetal 2.

Alternate history[]

According to Vector Prime, Galaxy Convoy was a Transmetal 2 who could transform into an enormous klud with spaceflight abilities.

Notes[]

  • The packaging blurb that described the Transmetals 2 as "infused with ultra-aggressive tendencies that they must struggle to control" was reinforced in multiple toy bios. Beyond Cheetor's first proper transformation in "Feral Scream", this was never explained at any point during the third season of the Beast Wars cartoon.
    • However, this may have been a factor in the first season of Beast Machines, as Megatron displayed the strange tendency to convert to dragon mode (apparently against his own will) when enraged.
  • Despite there being no overt involvement of the Transmetal driver in the cartoon, Predacon Megatron's dragon body is described as a Transmetal 2 in Cryotek's 3H Productions bio. Megatron's powers in this body might have been inherent in his mode of choice and were not shown to be involved with any supernatural glowing spark powers.
    • Similarly, the Fuzor Tigerhawk is regarded as a Transmetal 2. While he definitely has extraordinary powers, this is more likely to be the result of his unique origin as the Vok's emissary and "ultimate weapon".
    • Though Optimus Primal was reformatted into Optimal Optimus by holding two sparks within his body, this form is regarded as a regular Transmetal.
  • Despite not being referred to as such, several Predacons featured in the 2001 Transformers: Robots in Disguise series are implied to be Transmetals 2 due to sharing molds with Beast Wars characters who were sold under the original Transmetal 2 assortment.
  • Even though his Hasbro.com bio explicitly refers to him as a standard Transmetal, Reptilion better resembles a Transmetal 2 due to sharing a mold with Iguanus' Transmetal 2 form.
  • Several Transmetal 2 characters appear to have an oddball ability to acquire more limbs in their robot modes by shifting around a few parts. Though several characters from the "Beast Era" have animal limbs going all over the place due to complex transformation schemes, there is evidence that this occurrence being present with the Transmetals 2 was a conscious decision from the designers.
    • Scarem, Sonar, and Tigerhawk are all portrayed as having their extra limbs deployed in their packaging art whereas Optimus Minor's multiple limbs have nothing to do with his transformation. In any case, this feature was never portrayed in fiction for any of these characters.
