Torivors, also known as Lurkers, are an enigmatic extradimensional species summoned to a planet known as Lyrian, where they were enslaved.

Biology[]

Little is known of true Torivor biology. They are not conventional lifeforms, as they exist in a realm described like a dream, with no concept of time or death, possibly being psychic manifestations or existing in some sort of abstract form not based on matter. When summoned to Lyrian, they took the form of solid masculine humanoids with a generally Human-like shape, but appearing geometrically simple, with no discernable facial features, bodily features, or distinct digits on their feet, although their hands do have digits. Notably, their "skin" is pitch black, with no reflections or shadows from light. Internally, they have a glowing white blood-like substance. When killed, they dissipate, and the only known weapons that can harm Torivors are a unique type of sword made of a material known as Torivorian steel. Torivors are mute, but capable of telepathic speech, and can invade dreams of others, creating nightmares and communicating with victims by disguising as a friend or loved one within the dream. Additionally, Torivors have superhuman speed and strength, infinite stamina, an aura that scares off nearby animals, and the ability to walk on water. They were capable of being controlled by a magical artifact known as the Myrkstone.

Culture and society[]

Little is known of Torivor society. While used as assassins and scouts by the wizard Zokar and his successor Maldor, they harbored no ill will towards their victims, only wishing to return to their home realm. Torivors are incapable of lying, and thus always keep whatever oath they make, such as swearing allegiance to Zokar and Maldor. They tended to stay away from large towns and cities, but were known to enter if they were ordered to. They would not attack, communicate with, or otherwise attempt to interact with their target or any other living being while scouting, always staying in view, but if someone attempts to attack them, they will retaliate with superhuman speed, throwing weapons back at the wielder or simply throwing the other person away, then go back to standing still immediately after the threat is neutralized. This reflex is performed even if someone merely attempts to touch them, regardless of intent. When sent to assassinate a target, the Torivor sent out will carry two Torivorian steel swords, and throw one to the target so they may fight back in a proper duel. The Torivor in question will be freed of their oath regardless of the outcome of the duel, returning home if they survive.
