To'kustars are an "ultra-rare" race of gigantic aliens that are created in galactic anomalies called "cosmic storms".[1]

Biology

Anatomy

To'kustars are 120-feet-tall[2] (~ 36.5 m) muscular humanoids with stripes on their torso and legs, stump-like feet, and forearms with pointed elbows. Certain parts of a To'kustar's body are made of an unknown cosmic material with metallic properties.[3]

Although they traditionally have white skin with red metallic body parts, To'kustars can come in different colors. For example, To'kustars from Dimension 23 have light blue skin with blue metallic parts, Mad Ben's Way Big has white skin with orange metallic parts, Big Chuck has white skin with green metallic parts, and Evil Way Big has grey skin and blue metallic parts.

Mutant To'kustars (dubbed "Way Bads") have monstrous appearances with grey skin and purple metallic body parts. Undead To'kustars share the same appearance and purple metallic body parts as skeleton-like mutant To'kustars, yet their skin is colored white.

Ecology

Surprisingly, the To'kustars' natural predator is an unnamed virus that is very small in contrast to their gigantic size.[3]

Powers and abilities

To'kustars have extraordinary strength, even in proportion to their size, that allows them to defeat a normal-sized army and lift objects and creatures around their own size with little effort.

To'kustars have thick skin, making them resistant to most attacks and extreme temperatures.

To'kustars can blast strong cosmic rays[4] by positioning their arms in an L or X shape. These rays are powerful enough to disintegrate a small fleet of spaceships and destroy planets in one shot, and come in different colors such as pale blue, green, red, and orange.

Due to the nature of their creation, To'kustars can actually survive in the vacuum of space. In correlation with this, they can create and control cosmic storms, which can be used as a means of habitation and transportation through space.

A single To'kustar can destroy a small planet.[5] However, destroying a large planet would require a squadron of To'kustars.[6]

Despite not possessing enhanced speed, To'kustars have a massive stride and can get to a destination quicker than other species.[3]

If Kevin were to use Low Small, he would be more powerful than ordinary To'Kustars due the alterations made to the Antitrix. He would also stand at about the same size as a Vaxasaurian.

Weaknesses

A To'kustar's head fin is vulnerable, causing paralyzing pain if attacked or damaged. As such, they can either be incapacitated by electricity or ambushed by an entity as small as a Nanochip.

Despite their immense durability, To'kustars are weak against opponents with a sufficient strength level, such as Trombipulor's Species at full size.

Certain beings can lift a To'kustar off of their feet, including a Kineceleran, whenever they generate a tornado; a Vaxasaurian, even when at its base size;[7] and an Evolved Vaxasaurian.

To'kustars can be affected by a pheromone generated by Gutrot's Species, causing them to follow whoever generates the pheromone around wherever they desire.

Like other organic beings, To'kustars can be aged to dust by the time rays of a Chronosapien or Chronian.

Culture and society

Normal To'kustars are nonviolent beings, and so are commonly known as "gentle giants". They live alone at the edge of the galaxy, silently guarding against threats from beyond.[3]

Mutant To'kustars are feral and will attack anything on sight.

Notes

  • The Omnitrix's To'kustar representative is named Way Big, who first appeared in the film Ben 10: Secret of the Omnitrix after being unlocked by Azmuth. Way Big has appeared in almost every series except the reboot.
    • The Ben Tennyson of Dimension 23 has an equivalent of Way Big[2] named Giant-Manster, who was confirmed to exist in the Omniverse episode "Store 23".
    • If the reboot version of Kevin 11 were to have a mutant hybrid equivalent of Way Big, he would be named Low Small.
    • Way Big has also been used by the Prime Timeline Kevin, Ben 10,000, and Mad Ben. Despite not appearing on-screen, it is confirmed that Benzarro has Way Big available in his Omnitrix.[3]
  • The first part of "To'kustar" is derived from the word Toku, which is a shortened version of "Tokusatsu", a Japanese term for live action film or television drama that makes heavy use of special effects.
  • When the To'kustars were originally designed, the crew did not envision them with cosmic powers as the script for Secret of the Omnitrix simply called for a giant alien.[8] To'kustars would eventually display cosmic powers beginning in Ultimate Alien.
  • To'kustars seem to be based on the Ultraman characters, with the Way Bads being specifically inspired by Belial.[3] For example, their Cosmic Ray attack is a homage to Ultraman's signature finishing move, The Specium Ray. Similarly, the Ultraman franchise is a part of the "Tokusatsu" genre the To'kustars are named after.
    • One of the male Way Bads heavily resembles the Eva Unit 0-1 from the Neon Genesis Evangelion franchise.[3]
    • The gothic female Way Bad resembles Scanty from the R-18 anime Panty Stocking with Garterbelt.
    • The three-eyed male Way Bad with the helmet-mask resembles Andromon from the Digimon franchise.
  • Because the colorful parts on a To'kustar's body have metallic properties, Osmosians can use their powers on these parts.
  • In Ultimate Alien, To'kustars possessed enhanced speed similar to Kinecelerans and Citrakayahs. This has been retconned in Omniverse, as this power was the result of a glitch with the Ultimatrix and not a natural ability of this species.[3]
  • It is confirmed that the Omnitrix from the Ben 10 reboot contains To'kustar DNA.[6] Therefore, Way Big is one of the countless aliens whose DNA pod was glimpsed in the episode "Innervasion Part 5: High Override".
