Titanians are the native sapient inhabitants of Saturn's satellite Titan.

Biology[]

Titanians are bipedal creatures with slim wasp-like bodies and long sinuous arms. They feed on cultivated mushrooms.

Culture and society[]

Titanian cities, such as Orro, are built out of metallic materials, including a metal similar to the mysterious orichalcum of ancient Atlantis; and dominated by towering skyscrapers, the construction of which is enabled by the low gravity. Their main power sources are volcanic.

Titanians are a religious species and worship the planet Saturn as a deity. On the top of every building on Titan there is a domed temple in which a fire is permanently kept burning as a tribute to their celestial god.

Radio and electrical devices are unknown to them, due to the constant interference caused by static electricity accumulated in the vicinity of Saturn's rings, preventing the development of such devices.

Notes[]

  • Created by science fiction illustrator Frank R. Paul, this Titanian species was originally featured in Amazing Stories, November 1941, in an article titled "A City on Titan".
