"Since time immemorial, I have languished here. The locks are broken. Now I shall tear down the walls between dimensions and consume all."
―The End after being released from Cyber Space.

The End, also known as The All-Consuming Void is an ancient, malevolent entity which appeared in the Sonic the Hedgehog series. It destroyed The Ancients' homeworld and went to Earth to annihilate the last remaining Ancients, which in turn made them imprison The End into Cyber Space. Its sole goal is to destroy all of existence and revert it into nothingness, in order to establish order and neutrality.

Appearance[]

Being an abstract being, The End does not have a tangible form. It appears as a looming reddish-purple mist that seizes control over whatever it so pleases, as shown as when it took over the Titan Supreme. It also takes on multiple incarnations, such as a purple moon that dwarfs Earth's actual moon in comparison. It's actual true form is said to vary from person to person, but it appears as what its subjects perceive death itself to look like by altering their perception.

Personality[]

Motivated by a nihilistic philosophy, The End seeks nothing but total destruction of all existence itself since it saw existence as meaningless and in its words, teaming with chaos, due to how unpredictable it is, and so, by destroying all of existence and reverting the entire universe into nothingness.

Despite being an eldritch abomination, it is highly intelligent and manipulative as it used the Chaos Emeralds' return to the Starfall Islands to plan its return by having Sonic destroying the Titans and deactivating the towers that keep it at bay, taking full advantage of his altruistic and heroic nature and the fact Sage is one of Eggman's creations programmed to not relay information about her goals to Sonic, using both facts and the warning it gave Sonic about the Titans to make them and Sage appear as enemies, all done for the purpose of allowing it to break free and continue consuming all of creation indiscriminately.

Notes[]

  • Despite the fact Dr. Eggman is Sonic's archenemy, The End serves as a foil to Sonic, even more so than Eggman and other villains before it. The End is an eldritch abomination that wants to box others into a world anathema of light or existence, and attempts to crush the hope of those that confront it, making it an embodiment of Order. Sonic, on the other hand, is a free-spirited being that embraces the freedom of others, and always pushes forward no matter how hard things seem, and encourages others to do the same, which makes Sonic an embodiment of Chaos.
