Terrorcons are a subspecies of animalistic, self-duplicating Cybertronians from Planet Q.
Biology[]
While also being a subgroup of Decepticons, Terrorcons consider themselves a species unto themselves.
Anatomy[]
Terrorcons share a similar biology to other Cybertronians, except they transform into robot animals such as scorpions, pumas, birds, dinosaurs, and beetles.
Powers and abilities[]
Terrorcons share many of the same abilities as other Cybertronians.
Terrorcons possess the ability to sense any source of Energon.
Similar to Omnicons, Terrorcons have the ability to handle, process, and convert raw Energon into either useful tools and weapons or power-booster cells known as Energon stars.
Certain Terrorcons such as Battle Ravage, Cruellock, Divebomb, and Insecticon can create mass-produced duplicates of themselves that are employed as expendable combat drones.
Culture and society[]
Though created as servants of Alpha Quintesson, Terrorcons can be reprogrammed to serve Megatron as Decepticons. Scorponok displays an unusual affinity for the Terrorcons, generally serving as their leader.
When Scorponok was reprogrammed to serve Megatron, many of the Terrorcons likewise came with him. On at least one occasion, the Terrorcons display their loyalty by defending and healing their injured leader.
History[]
In the Aurex cluster, the Terrorcons were created by Alpha Quintesson out of scrap metal obtained from Unicron's body. They were designed as the reconstituted form of Planet Q's soldier army, which had been consumed by Unicron. The Terrorcons served Alpha Q as his near-mindless agents of Energon collection, gathering more of the magical substance to help repair Unicron.
In the early stages of the Energon Battles, the Terrorcons consisted of bird-type Divebombs and the puma-type Battle Ravages. Alpha Q eventually devised several additional breeds, including the dinosaur-type Cruellocks and the beetle-type Insecticons.
Alternate history[]
The Terrorcons are alternatively portrayed in certain universes as a neo-Decepticon faction organized by Scorponok following the end of the Great War, bent on restarting the war between the Autobots and Decepticons. Scorponok made a deal with Alpha Quintesson, in which the group would help the Quintesson to achieve its goals in exchange for Hyper Power abilities drawn from Unicron himself.

Notes[]
- According to Hirofumi Ichikawa, the original idea for the Terrorcons and Omnicons by the design departments of both Hasbro and Takara was for them to be evolved Mini-Cons. Transformers: Super Cross, a scrapped early proposal for what would eventually become Transformers: Energon, tied this evolution to Unicron's energy mutating captive Autobots, Decepticons, and Mini-Cons alike into new forms.
- By the time Energon entered early development, Takara's marketing department (i.e. the only people from Takara ever directly talking to We've Inc.) completely ignored this idea. Henceforth, the final cartoon established its own backstory for the Terrorcons. When Ichikawa found out about that, he never bothered trying to link his Linkage comic and the Superlink cartoon.
- The dinosaur-type Terrorcons' alternate modes are somewhat reminiscent of the 1990s Tristar incarnation of Godzilla, more commonly known as Zilla.
- According to the toy bio for Cybertron Scout Class Scrapmetal, Scrapmetals were originally Terrorcons before they were mutated by the Unicron Singularity.
