Terrans are a sapient species native to the planet Terra: an ancient world orbiting a star twice as old as Sol.

Biology[]

Terrans are transhuman aliens. They have lost their bodies, having bio-engineered themselves as masses of neural tissue kept alive inside tanks. This prevents them from moving. Terrans are fed by nutrients from cultivated plants and tended to by robots. Their minds are all linked into a single unified intelligence. They're also biologically immortal.

Culture and society[]

Terrans are masters of advanced technology. They use solar panels in space to capture the energy of their star, and have self-replicating robot servants equipped with artificial intelligence.

History[]

When Terra was threatened by the expansion of its sun, the Terrans used their technology to terraform a more distant planet in their own star system and moved their civilization to that world, which was renamed New Terra.

Appearances[]

  • Alien Worlds, s01e04, "Terra" (2020)

Notes[]

  • They are the first creature to be seen on the planet.
  • They are the only sapient species featured in Alien Worlds.
  • The planet that the Terrans make their home on has the same name as the titular planet of Battle for Terra. Both planets earned their name from the Latin term for ground, Terra.
  • The concept of a species evolving into preserved disembodied brains is similar to the Morpho from Doctor Who and the Providers from Star Trek.
