The Terminids are an insectoid race of mysterious origins, they are currently at war with Humanity.
History[]
The Terminids are the result of Super-Earth's farming of the Bugs following the First Galactic War (as the E-710 their bodies secrete after death), a century of mutations as a result of genetic manipulation left them as little more than beasts, but this all came to ahead when they broke out of farms on February 8th 2184, taking over many planets across the galaxy, the SUper Earth Armed Forces and the Helldiver Corps was deployed soon after, beginning Operation Valiant Enclosure.
By the end of February, plans had already been made to create a line of worlds on which would be built colossal anti-Terminid pesticide towers, this Terminid Control system was selected for construction in the Umlaut Sector, on the planets Erata Prime, Fenrir III, Meridia and Turing, after the holding of the planet Veld, the conquest of the Umlaut Sector was put underway and the TCS was constructed and activated, killing all Terminids in the sector
The TCS was functioning perfectly until April 29th, where after another series of orders against the Automatons and several incursions into Super-Earth space by the Terminids, the Terminid populations in the Umlaut Sector suddenly skyrocketed with all four worlds falling and Meridia becoming what is referred to as a Super-Colony, the cause was linked to a backfiring of the TCS, which the Helldivers were quickly dispatched to deactivate and all scientists involved in the TCS's design were tried, convicted and sent for "re-education"
After several failed operations, the Terminids and Automatons were officially declared war on by Super-Earth and after another failed operation, the SEAF established two training camps on Heeth and Angel's Venture and finally after securing the path to the Supercolony, the Helldivers deployed massive amounts of Illuminate Dark Fluid in to the planet's crust, eventually causing it to collapse into a black hole, which consumed all interstellar Terminid spores in the system, following this, the Super-Earth Armed Forces launched a campaign to take four worlds from the Terminids in their now weakened state.
Months went by with nothing of note on the Terminid front until August 6th, when a large cloud of interstellar spores was noticed deep within Terminid space, by August 10th, this cloud, now termed The Gloom had begun to effect local Terminid colonies, with the old Bug class known as Impalers making a reappearance, following this the last major change among the Terminid population were the five hundred million killed in order to fuel the Democracy Space Station and a further fifty million killed in order to test the effectiveness of the M-105 Stalwart, MG-43 Machine Gun and MG-206 Heavy Machine Gun in combat.
Biology[]
Terminids have six limbs, four legs and two pincers meant for offensive manoeuvres, though mutations have provided them with abilities such as offensive regurgitation of digestive acids, invisibility and even flight, the most notable thing known about Terminid biology is that their bodies decay into a black, oily substance known to the Humans of the Federation of Super-Earth as Element 710, which is used by Super Earth as fuel in their Alcubierre Drives.
They usually prefer to dig their colonies deep beneath the surface of a planet, with different nests being used for different types, taller nests for Shriekers, lower nests for Stalkers and larger nests of the various other Terminid types.
