- This article is about technorganic Cybertronians. For the similarly named, non-sapient Quintesson creations, please go to Trans-Organic.
- "So, what are we? Robots or animals?
Both... and neither." - ―Cheetor and Optimus Primal on their technorganic forms.
Technorganics are a unique form of Cybertronian life from the planet Cybertron, which in turn can be considered as nether robot nor carbon-based lifeform.
Biology[]
Anatomy[]
Technorganics share a similar biology to other Cybertronians, except their physiology includes both technological and biological components. They generally transform into animals of a similar biology.
Powers and abilities[]
Technorganics share many of the same abilities as regular Cybertronians. Representing the next evolutionary leap in Cybertronian life, they additionally possess a suite of abilities that border on the supernatural.
Technorganics' physical forms meld organic tissue and technology together at the cellular level, combining the strengths of both.
Certain Technorganics can perform a unique method of transformation through fluid shapeshifting, accompanied by a burst of brightly colored energy.
Technorganics are invisible to traditional Cybertronian and Quintesson scanners even while in beast mode, no longer giving off an "energy signature" like ordinary machines.
Technorganics are immune to most anti-Cybertronian viruses, including the debilitating transformation virus engineered by Megatron. Conventional CR chambers also have no effect on them.
While in robot mode, techorganics can utilize biologically enhanced nanosurgical capabilities, allowing them to heal faster and easily recover from grievous injuries.
In combat, technorganics mostly possess powerful built-in weapons such as deflector shields, sonic attacks, and electrical blasters.
Several technorganics possess telepathic abilities.
Botanica possesses several unusual abilities even beyond the ken of her fellow technorganics. Most notably, she has developed a symbiotic connection to Cybertron's organic core, growing sick and weak if cut off from its energy. She can also create technorganic plants at will.
Weaknesses[]
Technorganics share many of the same weaknesses as regular Cybertronians.
While in robot mode, technorganics are as readily detectable in scanners as regular Cybertronians.
Though powerful and durable, technorganics are not invulnerable as sufficient conventional firepower can render them unconscious or even physically damage them.
Much like regular Cybertronians, technorganics are vulnerable to spark extractors.
Ingesting seemingly organic fruit can cause technorganics to mentally devolve into primitives, though the effects can be undone if the tree generating this fruit were to be destroyed.
Technorganics are vulnerable to the Key to Vector Sigma, a device which can convert organics into "technomatter". As such, the Key can use technorganics to convert to a metalized state, resulting in pain, hysteria, and eventually deactivation unless its effects are reverted.
Culture and society[]
Technorganics generally share a similar culture to regular Cybertronians. Though they still retain their ancestral transformation ability, certain technorganics must re-learn how to transform by conscious thought and effort, a practice long since abandoned in favor of automating the process via the onboard computers that their new bodies lacked.
In order to transform in their current state, technorganics must first practice a mental discipline that saw them achieve a zen-like "still point". Some of them occasionally use the mantra "I am transformed" to help until they get the hang of doing it on their own.
If this state of mental balance were to be lost, a technorganic would usually revert from robot to beast mode. Several technorganics including Nightscream, Silverbolt, and Botanica appear to get the knack of transforming from the get-go.
History[]
Primax Cluster[]
Primax 496.22 Alpha[]
The Oracle possessed the ability to reformat any compatible Cybertronian into a technorganic body, as part of its mission to perpetuate the Great Transformation. To this end, it sought out the recently returned Optimus Primal and guided him to the Vector Sigma Chamber. There, the Oracle reformatted him and his fellow Maximals, Cheetor, Rattrap, and Blackrachnia, into the first technorganic Cybertronians. The Oracle used the organic matter brought back from prehistoric Earth by Primal's crew as the basis for this dramatic upgrade.
The Maximals would eventually extend the Oracle's ethos to new plant life and eventually Cybertron itself. Cybertron had long been a planet of metal upon metal, "technology" alone. At the end of the conflict between the Maximals and Vehicons, Cybertron was reformatted planet-wide, creating a new Earth-like world, a mix of technorganic flora and fauna, oceans presumably full of water, and vast green cities.
Primax 797.18 Epsilon[]
In its technorganic state, Cybertron possessed cities of varying construction. Some were largely technorganic in nature, while others retained more "traditional" inorganic metal or stonework construction, depending on the part of the planet. The technorganic reformatting also created trees bearing Energon fruits, in addition to purifying several highly polluted areas.
Evidence arose that the Quintessons had seemingly orchestrated the entire Great Transformation, hoping to invade the planet and take advantage of its weakened, disoriented inhabitants. When they followed through on this plan, they discovered that the technorganic inhabitants of Cybertron had developed beyond their specifications. The technorganics had also become more powerful than anticipated, as they were more than capable of besting an invasion force of Sharkticons.
However, it was ultimately revealed that Primus had indeed masterminded the entire plan, using the Quintessons as pawns in his own game. When the truth came out, he thanked them for helping his children achieve this great leap forward.
Primax 1005.19 Gamma[]
Jhiaxus modified the organic population of Gorlam Prime into mechanical Gorlamites that first went through a transitional techno-organic state.
Primax 208.06 Zeta[]
In an alternate timeline, the Oracle instead reformatted Predacons Waspscream, Terrorsaur, Tarantulas, and Rampage into technorganics.
Primax 509.28 Epsilon[]
Cybertron's transition to its technorganic state meant that it no longer operated on pure Energon. When the Star Seekers attempted to use Unicron's head to drain all of Cybertron's Energon in 2984, their scheme failed due to this development.
Primax 514.3 Gamma[]
Taking root on Cybertronian soil, the leaves sprouted from the Green Incendiary "G.I." Rockets were technorganic in nature.
Primax 215.19 Epsilon[]
In the 34th century CE, at least some Commandrons and Maladroids were techno-organic, such as those who crewed the stolen Terrastar and the pursuing Hyperborea. On their arrival at Energoa, the local Skriix noted this, and took offense to the Cybertronians "contaminating" the planet with their technorganic forms and tried to kill them.
Viron Cluster[]
Bruticus is a techno-organic Predacon under the service of Megatron/Gigatron whose alternate mode is based on the Cerberus, a mythical three-headed dog.
Aurex Cluster[]
The Decepticon known as Predacon experimented on himself with "biomechanical" technology to integrate organic tissue into his natural robotics, something that most other Cybertronians often find repulsive.
Malgus Cluster[]
When a Cybertronian protoform was discovered in Professor Isaac Sumdac's lab, it scanned the scientist's DNA rather than a customary mechanical alternate mode. The result was a human/Cybertronian-hybrid named Sari Sumdac, who was outwardly an ordinary organic human child by all appearances.
For 8 years, Sari's true nature remained unknown to everyone except Prof. Sumdac. When Sari discovered part of her origins, her dormant Cybertronian abilities were eventually unlocked after being upgraded into a teenage form by the AllSpark Key.
Other notable technorganics include the Predacons, an army of techorganic Cybertronians with insectoid beast modes led by Blackarachnia, a renegade Decepticon that was originally an Autobot named Elita-1 before being mutated by alien spiders.
Tyran Cluster[]
Among Lockdown's minions were Shadow Raiders, faceless technorganic humanoids; and Steeljaws, technorganic wolf-like creatures. While it is uncertain if they are Cybertronians themselves, these beings possessed transformation abilities akin to regular Cybertonians.
Legends World[]
After Cybertron had existed as a technorganic world for millennia, Vector Sigma foresaw a renewal of the Great War. Removing the planet's organic elements, Vector Sigma turned Cybertron back into a wholly mechanical planet so it would be strong enough to endure the coming conflict.
EarthSpark Universe[]
Terrans are techorganic Cybertronians created on Earth via Quintus Prime's Emberstone and human DNA.

Notes[]
- The 2001 Transformers: Robots in Disguise incarnation of Bruticus was originally conceived as a Maximal for the Beast Machines toyline. When the line was cut short, the toy had apparently made it just far enough into the development process to continue, if in a reduced capacity.
