The Tchagar are a highly advanced species of the far-future Milky Way and one of the dominant species of the Galactic Cooperative.

Anatomy[]
Tchagar are animal-analogues, but resemble green, leafless trees, with tentacles in place of roots and branches. They are four meters (13 feet) tall and weigh around two metric tons (4,400 lbs).
Biochemistry[]
Tchagar are carbon-based organisms that use iron-based proteins in their blood. However, unlike terrestrial animals, they breathe carbon dioxide and use glycerol nucleic acid (GNA) instead of DNA.
Diet[]
Tchagar are omnivores, although the specifics of their diet are not known.
Reproduction and life cycle[]
Tchagar are hermaphrodites. Their lifespans are incredibly long - tens to hundreds of millions of years - which they presumably achieved through life extension technology.
Senses[]
Tchagar are blind, and perceive their environment through electroreception. They can manipulate their electric field to harm or kill nearby creatures. They can hear at a similar range to humans.
Culture and society[]
What the Tchagar homeworld was like before they modified it is unknown. In its current state, the Tchagar homeworld consists of a toroidal Dyson swarm, consisting of billions of asteroid-sized bodies surrounding a G-type star. The swarm's shared atmosphere consists of 84.5% nitrogen, 12.5% oxygen, 2.9% carbon dioxide, and 0.1% argon, at a pressure of around 0.85 atm.
The Tchagar do not upload themselves into virtual worlds, as their electrical sense could not tolerate it. Instead, they live in Dyson toroids. They are one of the oldest and most advanced species of the Galactic Cooperative, and while not nominally superior, they expect and receive deference. In fact, they think of themselves almost as deities.
