Targetmasters (also known as Action Master partners, Battle Masters, C.O.M.B.A.T. Bots) are a subspecies of small-sized Cybertronian Bonded Masters found on the planets Cybertron and Nebulos.

Biology[]

Anatomy[]

Targetmasters share a similar biology to other Cybertronians, particularly Headmasters. The most common Targetmasters are often organic Nebulons that have either been bio-engineered to be partly mechanical or wear suits of armor that transforms around them to become a larger Cybertronian's ranged weapon.

Another common type of Targetmaster are animalistic Cybertronians that transform into melee weapons and are often regarded as Action Master partners.

Many Targetmasters that are naturally Cybertronian in nature are classified as Battle Masters or C.O.M.B.A.T. Bots. In addition to traditional Targetmasters and Action Master partners, there are also Battle Masters who transform into shields that double as A.I.R. Lock System-compatible ramps.

Powers and abilities[]

Targetmasters share many of the same abilities as other Cybertronians, particularly Bonded Masters and Weaponizer Mini-Cons.

Battle Masters can they provide adequate firepower for their larger partners. They can also combine with other C.O.M.B.A.T. System-compatible weapons to form bigger and badder guns.

Targetmasters and Action Master partners can be reformatted into Battle Masters in response to anomalies such as a quantum surge capable of creating Transmetals and Fuzors.

Culture and society[]

Targetmasters share a similar culture to other Bonded Masters. Targetmasters benefit from being able to take two minds into battle as living weapons capable of making their own tactical decisions and target priorities. The advantage is similar to that of having a dedicated gunner aboard an aircraft or tank.

History[]

Primax -408.24 Epsilon[]

Targetmasters have various origins in this negative-polarity universe depending on the individual. For example, one version of Nebulon was a low-tech drone created by the evil Autobot Stepper while another variant was a sentient Targetmaster. Meanwhile, Krunix was a morally upright Micromaster prior to being reformatted into a Targetmaster in an attempt to replicate the process for the heroic Decepticons.

Notes[]

  • Several of the C.O.M.A.T. Bots featured in the Transformers: Earth Wars mobile game are based on various types of Mini-Cons featured in the "Aligned" continuity, namely the Weaponizer Mini-Cons from the 2015 Robots in Disguise franchise and the Arms Microns from TakaraTomy's Transformers: Prime toyline.
  • Bluebolts is formally billed as a Battle Master during Hasbro Pulse's reveal of the HasLab-exclusive Legacy: United Robots in Disguise 2001 Universe Omega Prime.[1] This is likely a nod to how the original Blue Bolts was portrayed as a non-sentient weapon in the 2001 Transformers: Robots in Disguise series.
    • However, the included figure of the character is functionally similar to the full-sized Weaponizers.
  • Although Malleus Minotaurus is functionally similar to the Battle Masters, the character is formerly billed as a Micromaster on Amazon's product description for the Legacy: United "Doom 'n Destruction Collection" multi-packs.[2]
