The Tanars or the Gods of Tarana are a race of deities from the planet Tarana in the Eververse of the Black Science Universe.
History[]
The Tanars are composed of three clans: The Quorum of Thunder, the Sky Lords, and the Mountain Armies. Each clan possessed an artifact called the Forevemid. When all three Forevemids were brought together, they formed the Omnimid, a object that was said to be the soul of Tarana.
For generations these three families have fought against one another in a never ending war over the Forevemids.
The war ended when the Pia McKay arrived on Tarana. It was believed by the gods that she was the long dead goddess known as the Eucalyptus. Her unexpected arrival caused the other tribes to finally listen to reason and end the war.
Just as the Omnimid was formed at a celebration ceremony, Grant McKay accidentally crashed his Pillar vessel into the artifact. War loomed over Tarana once again, a few of the gods suspecting that Pia was not the goddess as they had proclaimed.
To prevent war the King of the Quorum of Thunder proposed that the three tribes settle their petty squabbles to reclaim an artifact that could restore the Omnimid, the Oxenheart. However the said artifact was in the possession of Doxta the Witch of the Withering Woods, a being even the gods feared to cross. Grant under the influence of alcohol only made things worse in his drunken state leading to the tribes to slide into war once more. Grant wishing to restore things with his daughter set off into the Withering Woods to seek the Oxenheart. Grant soon found himself in a cabin owned by a old woman. Pia learning of her father’s mission followed him demanding that he give up and just leave. Grant refused wanting to make things right. The two would come to realize that they were in the home of the Witch, Grant attempted to fight her to protect Pia, however his weapon proved useless against her. In exchange for her life and the Oxenheart he was forced to give up his genius and the secrets of Black Science. Though if allowed Doxta to escape into the Eververse, it restored Tarana and his bond with his daughter.
During the merging of realities in the McKay’s home dimension, the Tanars joined the fight against the Draylns driving them back. The Gods were then taken captive by Doxta who had orchestrated events to allow her to kill the king of the Quorum of Thunder now that he was separated from the power of Tana.
