serious problem[]

okay we have a serious problem here, this page is just someone praising vampires . . . this is not a good page, this page should be a disambiguation page like the Page for greys, outlining some basic history, some simple ideas and common themes . . . then providing a list of different vampiric beings from different otherworldly fictional franchises . . .not .. .the garbage it is now. ralok (talk) 02:59, April 15, 2013 (UTC)

Agreed, I've added a section providing exactly that, with a list of aliens inspired by vampires and other species similar to them, but it still needs some expanding -- BlueFrackle (talk) 01:12, April 29, 2013 (UTC)

Dracula was the first?[]

Something that bothers me right in the first paragraph: it says vampires were created by Count Dracula, who was the progenitor of the vampire curse. That might be right, I don't know, but I've always been under the impression that there were others before him. I distinctly remember a passage on the book, right after they kill Dracula (ah... well, I guess I'm not spoiling this for anyone who hasn't lived in a cave for the last 120 years, but if I just spoiled it for you I'm deeply sorry) which describes how his face showed a brief image of calm and almost relief, before turning to dust, not unlike Lucy. To me that made clear that he was once human as well and was bitten by another vampire at some point. Well, maybe I'm missing something, I hope someone else might clarify that, but I don't think Dracula was the progenitor of the whole race according to Bram Stoker's book (maybe in one of the adaptations he was?) -- BlueFrackle (talk) 01:18, April 29, 2013 (UTC)

It doesnt really matter, as the article was void before as it presented information as if it was in-universe but with no distinct universe (seemingly combinging several different vampiric mythos) articles like this need to provide more or less real world history. ralok (talk) 01
