Taa-ans were a highly advanced humanoid species that existed in the Sixth Cosmos, the previous incarnation of the universe, on the planet Taa. Their most famous member is Galan, who was reconstructed in the next incarnation of the universe as the cosmic being Galactus.

Biology[]

Taa-ans were externally identical to Humans.

Culture and society[]

TaaPlanet

A Taa-an city

Taa-ans were the most advanced civilization of their universe, with Taa being a constantly-reshaping paradise that could not be described with words. Taa-ans commonly wore ornate, armored clothing, sometimes also bearing capes, robes, facial tattoos, or silver eye patches over their right eyes. While Taa-an society mostly focused on advancements in science, they were known to have at least one superhero-like figure near the end of the Sixth Cosmos. Taa-ans, or at least their scientists, known as scienceers, were known to genetically engineer their children. Taa-an cities were visible even in the abstract environment of Taa, sometimes consisting of white skyscrapers with smooth, rounded shapes, with other cities featuring multicolored cylindrical buildings with interlocking complex structures and clear tube-like elevators holding multiple chambers with dozens of occupants. Skies of Taa-an cities were constantly bustling with Thought-Spheres.

Technology[]

Taa-an technology was incredibly advanced, with minor examples including interstellar spacecraft and Thought-Spheres, which were clear bubble-like hovercrafts with no visible engines, controls, or entrances, which Taa-ans used for transportation. Other examples of Taa-an technology include powered exosuits which could create energy constructs, and mechanized cribs which take care of infants in the absence of a parent.

History[]

In the previous incarnation of the universe, known as the Sixth Cosmos, where the very concept of science was born, a planet known as Taa formed. On its surface, the Taa-ans arose, creating the most advanced society in their universe, making Taa into a paradise beyond measure. Some time before the end of the Sixth Cosmos, a Taa-an scienceer named Taaia became a superhero-like figure on Taa. Due to her duties, she often left her genetically engineered infant son, Galan, within a robotic crib. The baby Galan was eventually visited by a time-traveling Zenn-Lavian named Norrin Radd, a future herald of Galactus who tried his best to teach Galan the compassion Taaia had failed to give him, knowing what Galan would become in the next universe. Taaia served alongside Norrin Radd in a time-traveling team known as the Defenders, fighting against a planet-devouring being known as Omnimax, successfully forcing him off of Taa.

When Galan grew up, he took on a wife named Aala. Soon, the Sixth Cosmos was reaching the end of its lifespan, the universe contracting in an event known as the Big Crunch, to form a new "Cosmic Egg" that would spawn a new universe. Taa-an scientists found that there was no way to stop the end of the Sixth Cosmos, the lethal radiation killing all other life in the universe, with Taa being the last surviving world. Seeing that there was no escape for Taa, Galan proposed that if they must die, they should die in a glorious manner, by flying directly into the Cosmic Egg. Seeing that there was no salvation, surviving Taa-ans entered a starship and took off into the Cosmic Egg, the radiation and heat killing all Taa-ans except for Galan, who merged with the essence of the Sixth Cosmos, and was reconstructed in the next incarnation of the universe as a giant planet-devouring being known as Galactus.
