The Stone People are a species native to the world of the Nine Realms.

Biology[]

The Stone People are a race of giants with variations between individuals seemingly made of various minerals such as rocks, crystal, diamonds , etc. One of the oldest races the Stone People were more attuned to the Ebora and thus capable of wielding it and inscribing its power on their architecture. For recreation, drinking boiling sulphur has the same effect as a human with alcohol.

History[]

The Stone People were one of first of two races, the other being the dryads, that arose on their world through the grace of the living energy known as the Quintessence.

In the dark reign of Ichnar the Wraith King, the Kingdom of the Stone People joined in an alliance with the other Nine Kingdoms and help defeat the tyrant. Two thousand years later when the Wraith King returned more stronger than ever due to his dark arts, the Stone People once again united with their allies to fight the undead. Among their number was Gaspar who joined a band of heroes on a quest to seek the Lost Armoury of Thraigne to create a weapon capable of killing the Wraith King.

When the alien invaders known as the Thorn intent on harvesting the magic to power their empire, arrived in the skies of the Nine Realms, the Stone People were among those that resisted the occupation. Many of the Stone People were killed and the survivors fled to their capital, Menhir. There what was left of a proud race assembled shoulder to shoulder with their fellows in one last battle to the bitter end. Alas the Thorn rather than engaging the Stone People in physical battle, merely rained an aerial strike on the Stone People whilst they stood in the open before the city gates. The Stone People were shattered and turned to rumble by the onslaught effectively ending their race, though a few were captured by the aliens to serve as experimental material. The last stand of the Stone People were memorialized by the enslaved races of the Nine Realms and named place of their end as the Vale of Tears.

Years after the Thorn's occupation of the Nine Realms, the Wizard Ablard led his two companions the ork Crixus and dryad Princess Yarrow to the Hall of the Mountain King as he believed that not all the Stone People perished and that one may still exist within the city of Menhir. The gate to the city was sealed by thanks to Crixus being bonded to the Ebora they were allowed entry. However they were surprised to find that the city was not so deserted but in fact a horde of orks, goblins and trolls had taken up residence there. The leader of this bunch was none other than King Erasmus, Crixus's father, who had fled with what remained of his kingdom to the city after the Thorn's Shrikes destroyed it.

The reunion was interrupted when King Tycho arrived intent on taking the ork and bring him before Duke Eschatus of the Houses of the Thorn. The refugees and heroes joined forces against the traitorous dryad but they were slowly pushed back as their enemies were now immune to magical attacks thanks to their enhanced armor. Crixus fought Tycho and nearly won the duel against the fallen dryad king, but was shot in the head by one of Tycho's underlings. His premature death was stopped by the Ebora who connected with him and allowed the ork to heal from his wounds. Crixus taking advantage of his new power then used it to reconstitute the shattered remains of the Stone People, resurrecting them.

After Tycho was driven away to send a message to Duke Eschatus, the newly returned Lord Skarn of the Stone People thanked Crixus and pledged his people to his cause to unite the races of the Nine Realms, casting aside old racial enmities. Together with Erasmus the two then went out to seek allies in the coming war.

Culture[]

A proud and honorable race of warriors, Stone People were one of the oldest civilizations on their world, building an underground empire.
