The Stokers are a species from the world Feud.

Biology[]

Stokers were a bipedal type of saurian that stood on digitigrade legs. They had articulated forepaws for grasping tools. In addition their most prominent features were a pair of tusks emerging from their lower jaws, which impaired their speech abilities, causing the inability to conjugate "s" words and instead pronounce them as "th" instead.

History[]

Ages past the Stokers were a fisher/hunters and preyed upon the Skids. After the races achieved sentience, they and many other races still retained atavistic instincts, but managed to overcome them to create a stable harmonious society.

The Stokers developed into a industrial based society which they used their craftsmanship to create weapons in exchange for wampum from the Skids so that they can trade for ores from the Grunts.

Culture[]

Stokers are a tribal people who follow a militarist hierarchy. At the top of their social structure is the Head Engineer which is also called the Head Wrench.

They are the only people on Feud with an industrial base society. Their foundries are large an impressive containing metalworkers and engineers capable of creating body armor, cutlasses, cannons, artillery vehicles, aircraft and assault rifles. Stokers trade their wares commercially to the other races, though keep the best weapons for themselves.

Despite their people overall being seen as a industrial race, there are some Stokers such as the Sinister Wrenches who disagree with their people's culture. The Sinister Wrenches are an unholy alliance of self-hating Stokers and Luddite Dust Devils.

Interestingly the Stoker have uncovered several human artifacts beneath their castle. Oddly these artifacts hold spiritual significance to their people, as their oracles use them to do prognosis of the future. Their interpretations are based on where and the order of the artifacts that are found and with uncanny accuracy the oracles reveal startling details on the future.

Notes[]

  • Due to the human artifacts excavated by the Stokers, it is hinted that the world which Feud takes place is actually the distant future of Earth. The theory though is untrue as Feud orbits a binary star, making it highly unlikely to be Earth's sun. Additionally the human artifacts found by the Stokers are hinted to be objects that somehow were stranded on their world via spatial dislocation as evidence to when a human hunter was dropped on Feud.
