Steeljaws are a non-sapient race of technorganic wolves from an unknown planet, possibly Cybertron.
Biology[]
Anatomy[]
Steeljaws resemble techno-organic wolves.
Powers and abilities[]
Certain Steeljaws possess transformation abilities akin to Cybertronians.
Behavior[]
Steeljaws are used by Lockdown to hunt down intruders, escapees, and other prey that venture into his ship.
History[]
Background[]
Centuries ago, Lockdown was tasked by the mysterious Creators of the Cybertronians to capture all their rogue "knights." At some point, he a commandeered and converted a spaceship that had once belonged to the knights themselves into a mobile prison for containing and transporting his various captives.
Over the course of his journey, Lockdown assembled a pack of Steeljaws to help guard his captives. One such Steeljaw was among the minions that Lockdown ordered to stand down when Sojex, one of the mercenary's prisoners, escaped and took command of the ship.
By 2013, Lockdown succeeded in capturing all of the knights save for Autobot leader Optimus Prime. Detecting the energy signature of a collapsing space bridge, he travelled to Earth to acquire this last prize.
Arriving in early/mid 2018, Lockdown landed somewhere in the Arctic and joined forces with the CIA black-ops taskforce Cemetery Wind. The Steeljaws would remain aboard the knight ship while Lockdown assisted Cemetery Wind in hunting Cybertronians on Earth.
Present Day[]
In May 2018, multiple Steeljaws were present on the roof of the knight ship when Cemetery Wind's leader Harold Attinger requested an audience with Lockdown regarding their progress with Optimus' capture.
When the Autobots infiltrated Lockdown's ship to rescue Optimus and Tessa Yeager, Crosshairs sabotaged the ship's workings and forced it to fire mooring cables into nearby skyscrapers, causing a distraction and buying time. Alerted to the situation yet under the impression there was a loose prisoner, Lockdown ordered the Steeljaws to find and kill the perpetrator before the ship departed.
The Steeljaws chased after Tessa until she snuck into a cellblock with narrow spaces, evading them. As Cade Yeager, Tessa, and Shane Dyson fled the ship using the anchor, the Steeljaws caught up to the Humans. Using a sword-gun he retrieved from an armory within the ship, Cade opened fire at the Steeljaws while buying Shane and Tessa time to cross. He managed to kill one of them while causing another to fall to its death by shooting at the cables.
Undeterred from the loss in numbers, the Steeljaws attempted to chew through the wires. Just when they succeeded, Bumblebee came to the humans' defense and killed two more Steeljaws by impaling one with the death-lock pincer of his plasma cannon and dismembering another with his bare hands. When Bumblebee jumped after a loose cable to rescue the humans, the last Steeljaw chased after the Autobot as he swung. Considering it is never heard from again, the Steeljaw presumably fell to its death.

Notes[]
- During the production of Transformers: Age of Extinction, the Steeljaws appear to have been identified as simply Wolves. This preliminary name is present on the film's European Topps trading card series and in toy listings leaked via Hasbro's customer service website.[1]
- Some reports from Toy Fair 2014 suggested the existence of a Dino Sparkers toy for the Age of Extinction toyline featuring Lockdown, which the aforementioned leak suggests would have featured a "Wolf" (i.e., a Steeljaw) as the mount. Ultimately, this product was never officially revealed or solicited for release.
- Steeljaw's product description on websites such as Hasbro Toy Shop uses the stock copy for Autobots, describing him fighting Decepticons.[2]
- The name "Steeljaw" has alternatively been used for an Autobot Cybercat-type Mini-Cassette in most other media, though the Dark of the Moon incarnation of the character is a Cyber-dog.
- Within the live-action film series, "Steeljaw" was used as an early working name for Que/Wheeljack during the production of Transformers: Dark of the Moon.[3]
