Squids (Teuthida) are an order of cephalopod molluscs commonly known as squid (due to their calcareous "bone", known as a pen or reed = calamus in Latin). It contains two suborders, Myopsina and Oegopsina (the latter including Architeuthis dux, the giant squid and Mesonychoteuthis hamiltoni or colossal squid). They are marine and carnivorous animals.
