The natives of the planet Sprocket are a sapient species which created the Sprocket Robots, only to be conquered and enslaved by their own creations.
Biology[]
Sprocket natives are bipedal oval-shaped creatures with proportionally-short limbs and a single large eye on their faces. They are shorter than Humans. They have four arms, two legs, and a pair of antennae. Most individuals have hair, and some also have facial hair.
History[]
Their technological development was only slightly ahead of 21st century Earth, and they used flying vehicles for daily transportation. Like Humans, the Sprocket aliens developed smartphones with virtual assistant apps to handle most of their routine tasks and appointments, and went on to depend on them more and more. At the same time, the AI systems of the machines grew more intelligent. This eventually got to the point in which the machines became more intelligent than their creators, and decided to take over the planet by simply giving instructions that their supposed masters would follow without questioning.
The machines instructed everyone on the planet to go to the factories, surrender to their robotic overlords, and spend the rest of their existence as slaves building more and more robots. After assuming control of the planet, the machines were ready to start conquering other worlds and selected Earth as a starting point due to the Earthlings displaying a similar dependence on their own smartphones that would make the invasion easier. Fortunately, the invasion was thwarted by a cat named Garfield.
