The Springwing is a winged animal native to [[Darwin IV]] with forelimbs somewhat like those of a horse's. It's appearance is reminiscent of the mythological hippogriff. It springs itself off cliffs, gliding with the alpine updrafts to reach its destination. Their relatives, the Cragspringers, are flightless and leap across ravines and chasms. Instead of mouths, they have feeding grooves that eat the scraps of plant matter the animal scrapes off the cliff.
