Spockbats (H'shass'thee in To'ul'hoss) are near-ground flying predators native to To'ul'h Prime.[1]
Biology[]
Though a Spockbat exhibits bilateral symmetry, it belongs to the class of tetraradial tetrapod vertebrates in phylogenetic terms.[1]
It is a creature that vaguely resembles a bat, however it has four wings which presumably evolved from its legs. These wings have spikes that can be venomous in some species. The frontal part of the body has two, orange-colored olfactory folds.
A Spockbat is a dioecious, sexually-reproducing species, with its genitals located at the sides of the body.
Spockbats have backward-facing spines at the base of their tails to discourage predators attacking them from the rear. In some Spockbat species, these spines are venomous.
Notes[]
- The name of the creature is a portmanteau between bat and Spock, a character with pointy ears from the science fiction TV series Star Trek.[1]
