Spectralids are peaceful, butterfly-like creatures that are found on PNF-404, one of the more peaceful creatures discovered by Captain Olimar.

Description

Spectralids are fairly small, bipedal animals about the same size as Pikmin, excluding their large butterfly wings. Their eyes are set on very long thin stalks, and their bodies are white and covered in simple hairs.

A special feature with Spectralids is the patterns on their wings. Different individuals of various forms have different colored wings and markings, like most Butterflies on Earth. These patterns and colors make them valuable to many Hocotatian "flutterbie" collectors, and some are highly pricey in auctions.

Evolution

Unmarked Spectralids

"Unmarked" Spectralids.

Spectralids, when looking through the fossil record, actually have evolved from similar creatures namely refered to as "Unmarked Spectralids". These unmarked specimens are presumably sociable creatures, and behave much like modern Spectralids do.

These ancestors almost mirror Earth butterflies in function and appearance, and is speculated that the evolution of their current forms, mostly their furred bodies, are a response to colder climate change.
