This article is about the undead Cybertronians featured in Transformers: War for Cybertron Trilogy. For the undead Cybertronians featured in Transformers: Prime, please go to Terrorcon (Transformers: Prime).

Sparkless are a subspecies of undead Cybertronians found in Cybertron's Sea of Rust.

Biology[]

Anatomy[]

Sparkless share a similar biology to other Cybertronians, except they are zombie-like, covered in rust, have damaged armor, and (shockingly) lack sparks.

Powers and abilities[]

Sparkless have great enough strength to rip an ordinary Cybertronian apart.

Sparkless are very durable, as they cannot be destroyed by simple fire blasts or slashing.

Weaknesses[]

The AllSpark appears to be the only thing capable of neutralizing a Sparkless.

Ecology[]

Sparkless hunt for the sparks of the living, seeking to revive themselves. This seemingly indicates that they hunger for Energon.

History[]

According to Jetfire, the Sparkless were responsible for multiple deaths that have taken place in the Sea of Rust during the Great War between the Autobots and Decepticons.

While searching for the AllSpark in the Sea of Rust, a team of Autobots led by Optimus Prime tracked its last known coordinates down into a nearby valley. Optimus sensed something troubling as Sparkless rose out of the ground and attacked the Autobots due their sparks. The Sparkless quickly overwhelmed the Autobots, managing to kill Moonracer by tearing her down to her torso. Luckily, Optimus managed to recover the AllSpark, its power causing the Sparkless to disintegrate into dust.

While Megatron searched for the AllSpark on a prehistoric Earth, the Matrix of Leadership produced a hallucination of a swarm of the Sparkless attacking him. After Megatron entered the AllSpark's chamber on Earth, the Matrix created another hallucination, that of an adoring Decepticon crowd becoming the Sparkless and drawing Megatron into a void.

Notes[]

  • The nature of the Sparkless is never explained, though a lot of the details surrounding their existence is somewhat reminiscent of Dark Energon, what with the glowing purple optics and the entire surrounding area being filled with large purple crystals. This likely indicates that the Sparkless are alternate-reality counterparts to the Terrorcons featured in Transformers: Prime.
    • The AllSpark was also shown to change the reality of the nearby area until it was taken by Optimus Prime, much like the Sparkless around the AllSpark.
  • Par for the course with War for Cybertron Trilogy cartoon's extensive use of generics, the Sparkless's models are edited and retextured models of various Autobots and Decepticons featured on the show. For example, the Deluxe Class Sparkless Bot toy is based off Barricade and Prowl's body-type while the Voyager Class Sparkless Seeker toy is based off the Seeker design employed by Starscream, Thundercracker, Skywarp, and many others.
    • Other Sparkless designs include the Photon design employed by Reflector and body-types based off Sideswipe, Mirage, Ironhide, and Hound.
  • Despite the show having both Autobots and Decepticons as part of the Sparkless, their toys have only listed them as Decepticons. This was probably done to market them as villains, similar to what the Cyberverse toyline did with the Monsterbots and Sharkticons.
  • According to toy packaging from the War for Cybertron Trilogy toyline, Sparkless Bots are classified as Ground Force Infantry Sergeants. Meanwhile, Sparkless Seekers are classified as Air Force Infantry Sergeants.
  • The color scheme of the Sparkless Seeker design seems closer to one of the generic Seeker color schemes seen in the War for Cybertron Trilogy cartoon, notably the limbless Seeker seen under Ratchet's care in War for Cybertron: Siege episode 3.
