Soul Hunters are a mysterious and ancient species which dedicate their lives to preserving the souls of celebrated individuals: leaders, artists and philosophers. By unknown means, the Soul Hunters are capable of sensing when death is imminent, and collect the soul at the moment of death to preserve it inside spherical containers for eternity.
A Soul Hunter's lifespan is so long that a 4000 year old individual is considered young. They regard their jobs as a sacred duty and the only means to preserve the souls of the departed, since they do not believe in reincarnation or afterlife. However, they don't preserve their own souls, seeing themselves as unworthy.
