Soldiers of Darkness are a mysterious species of invisible sapient predators and one of the servant races of the Shadows.
Prior to 2259, their existence was largely dismissed as a legend, figuring in the mythology of species such as the Markab and the Narn.
Biology[]
Soldiers of Darkness are towering creatures, completely invisible and highly resistant to plasma discharges. They feed on the internal organs of their prey, and are capable of doing so without leaving any wounds or other visible means of extraction. This, combined with Amis' claims that they can move through walls, suggests that these creatures are not made of ordinary matter and might be able to become fully intangible as well.
In some cases, Soldiers of Darkness can keep their prey alive for long periods and act as parasites, gradually reducing the victim to a fraction of its former weight. In such cases, the Soldier of Darkness also forms a psychic link with its victim, who can sense the predator's presence whenever it comes near. The Soldier of Darkness benefits in being able to use such victims as scouts and see whatever they see, without the victim even being aware of it.
