- Not to be confused with Slyther.
The Slithers, a.k.a. Melodians, are a sapient species of musically-inclined aliens from the muddy planet Melodia. It's been speculated that they evolved from aquatic ancestors and adapted themselves to a terrestrial existence when the oceans turned to mud flats.
Biology[]
Slithers are small orange creatures with round bodies supported by snail-like feet. Like their name indicates, they move around by slithering rather than walking. Their heads are shaped like a mop with a multitude of tentacles, which look harmless but are capable of stinging like a jellyfish.
Slithers have three mouths, one on the top of the head and two on the neck, all of which are used for singing. As a result, each Slither sings in three voices. They communicate by wordless music and are angered by any vocal communication that is not musical.
Culture and society[]
Slithers are sapient creatures. Different communities keep in touch with each other by communicating in ultrasonic frequencies. Their language is entirely musical. They don't wear clothes and have no knowledge of fire. They worship a sacred tree.
