The Skids are an amphibious species native to the world Feud.
Biology[]
Skids resemble a species of upright giant frogs though are capable of breathing water as easily as air on land. It seems in the past the Skids were actually a prey species to the Stokers and the Kites before their pre-industrial phase. Like earth frogs they develop from eggs to tadpoles before becoming frogs.
History[]
The Skids were one of the four races on Feud that achieved a state of equilibrium with each other races through peaceful trade. However that balance was threatened when a vehicle carrying the Royal Spawn of the Skids was intercepted by a Carpet Beetle. The drivers were killed but their passenger survived as she was not yet hatched. Her egg sack though was quickly retrieved by the Kites who then proceeded to plant evidence that the Stokers were responsible. Taking the evidence that was left behind, the Skids then declared war on the Stoker Castle. Using their affinity to swimming a mass of Skids swam in a counterclockwise display in the sea to create the Wave, a massive artificial tsunami to launch an attack on the Stokers. Riding the wave, the Skids flooded the fortress and raided it. To avoid being drowned the Stokers drained the water via the tunnels, which flooded the lands of the Dust Devils. The Stokers permitted one of the survivors to Queen Freebnean in a gesture of peace to show that the Stokers played no part in the kidnapping of their Royal Spawn. The queen considering this new information, called upon her spy a Skid concubine of a Stoker to confirm if what their supposed enemy said was true. The spy testified that though the Stokers were crude, they were not nefarious enough to come up with a kidnapping.
It soon became apparent that the two races were being manipulated by the Kites for their own ends. The Stoker chief attempted to form a merger with the Skid queen, but unfortunately he accidentally killed her after his primal instinct took over. The death of their queen brought the Skids to war on the Stokers. At the same time the Kites allied with the Grunts to make war on the Stokers. However before all out war could commence, the Royal Spawn and the Stoker oracle managed to stop the war with the aid of the Dust Devils.
Culture[]
The amphibious Skids dwell above and below large bodies of water. They are accomplished fishers who trade with the Stokers for body armor, weapons and machines. Their form of currency for trading is clams.
