Skags are aggressive, dog-like creatures with strong bony armor plates that are native to the planet Pandora. They have powerful front claws and a large mouth that opens horizontally, as well as a long whip-like tongue. They nest in large subterranean burrows, often in packs. Skags are voracious predators, swarming over and attacking any creature that looks remotely edible; later on, they will regurgitate any undigested matter into large piles of bones and loot. Some individuals can grow to enormous sizes, and can even breathe fire, spit acid, and shoot electricity. They hibernate during the winter, which is much longer than earth's; when they wake up, they wake up hungry.
Alpha skags are known to produce 'skag pearls', which hold considerable value to the humans of Pandora due to their rarity. Unfortunately, these pearls give off a pheromone that induces hunger in skags, making jewelry utilizing skag pearls rather dangerous to wear.
