- "Kindness is no virtue... and cruelty is no vice."
- ―Scorponok
Scorponoks (also known as Scorponok Drones) are a subspecies of scorpion-like Cybertronians from the planet Cybertron.
Biology[]
Anatomy[]
Scorponoks share a similar biology to other Cybertronians, except they transform into robotic scorpions. Some are around the same size as other Cybertronians whereas others are enormous and arguably considered to be a subspecies of Titans.
Powers and abilities[]
Scorponoks share many of the same abilities as other Cybertronians.
Weaknesses[]
Scorponoks share many of the same weaknesses as other Cybertronians.
A Scorponok's weakest point is their head, as attacking is the only way they can get injured.
Culture and society[]
Scorponoks are regarded as one of the few unforeseen dangers ahead of the Autobots and Decepticons in their civil war.[1]
Though they have their own unique insignia, Scorponoks also appear to be affiliated with the Decepticon and Predacon factions.
History[]
Primax Cluster[]
The Scorponok were created by the Quintessons as slave labor though unlike the Cybertronians, they never fought back. This resulted in their home being destroyed and most of its people killed except for one individual who would later name himself Scorponok. He would reside aboard Nebulon Station, an outpost jammed between a constantly active space bridge.
This Scorponok awakened when the Autobots of the Ark entered the station, intending on blowing it up to pass through the space bridge. Declaring them an infestation, he attacked the Autobots, managing to kill an Autobot security officer before facing a hologram of Omega Supreme created by Mirage. Optimus Prime shortly joined the skirmish and knocked Scorponok down a chasm, though he merely transformed and rose up in his gigantic robot mode. After killing another Autobot security officer, he gave chase to the fleeing Autobots, though they managed to buy time behind a reinforced door.
Scorponok busted down the door and resumed his fight against the Autobots before he was stopped from killing Optimus by the arrival of Megatron and the Decepticons of the Nemesis. After numerous attacks from both sides and tossing aside an annoying Ravage, Scorponok transformed and disrupted the duel between Optimus and Megatron, only for the former to throw and shoot a charge in Scorponok's face. Arising from the rubble, he once again engaged in a fight with the Autobots and Decepticons.
Discovering that his head was his weak point, Optimus leaped onto Scorponok's back and slung the disconnected wires on the ground around his neck to ride him, leaving the giant scorpion angered to be once again enslaved. After a failed attempt to kill Optimus thanks to Megatron's interference, Scorponok fled. When Optimus accused Megatron of having Quintesson-like behavior, their argument attracted the ire of Scorponok, who explained how cruel the Quintessons were and how Megatron was not too dissimilar to a Judge.
A furious Megatron blasted Scorponok, which provoked the latter to attack the Decepticons. This distraction gave the Autobots time to disable the station's gravity controls and flee to the Ark. In a gambit for power, Starscream used the Nemesis' cannons at max-power in an attempt to destroy both the Autobots and Megatron. The resulting explosion destroyed Nebulon Station, presumably taking Scorponok with it.
Tyran Cluster[]
Scorponok Drones are among the Decepticon Soldiers who attacked NEST operative Vanessa and her civilian partner Jake while investigating their activities in Africa. Despite the loss of their leader the Scorponok King, they would later be encountered in the United States West Coast and Canada.

Notes[]
- The Scorponok insignia featured in War for Cybertron Trilogy is a modified version of the Decepticon insignia.
- The idea of a Scorponok's head being a weak point is a reference to the primary Scorponok's portrayal as a Headmaster Triple Changer in most Generation 1-related media.
- The term "Scorponok" can be referred to in the plural both with and without an added "s" depending on the series.
