The Rock Lords are a race of mineral, rock-like entities with an appetite for metal who hail from the planet Quartex. Though they are prominently seen in the Gargent Cluster, they have also been confirmed to exist in the Malgus and Skalorr Clusters.
Biology[]
As their name implies, Rock Lords are mineral-based humanoids made up entirely of rocks. In their dormant states, they resemble asteroids.
Ecology[]
A Rock Lord's main diet is metal, to which they eat anything made of metal up to and including Cybertronians and other robots.
Weaknesses[]
Rock Lords can be disturbed from their sleep if disturbed by light.
History[]
Gargent Cluster[]
Eons ago, a civilization of advanced organic Ro-Beings native to the planet Quartex became threatened by the stellar radiation generated from a nearby star. Their connection to nature and dislike of technology gave them an idea. This idea was a plan to turn every living being into living rocks by having them fused with rock at the very moment the radiation wave hit. The plan was imperfect, and nearly every Rock Lord had forgotten who they originally were.
The Guardians first encountered the Rock Lords during a battle with the evil Renegades, and thus, many later battles between the Guardians and Renegades involved the Rock Lords. This culminated in the Combiner Wars, which involved a team-up between the Guardians and the heroic Rock Lords and the Renegades and the evil Rock Lords.
Malgus Cluster[]
Natives of the Quartex System, a cluster of Rock Lords has spent untold eons of peaceful slumber. However, this was interrupted when the arrival of Omega Supreme awakened them. They swarmed around the Omega Sentinel before he abruptly transwarped away. Momenta later, Autobot Bumblebee arrived at the same location and was quickly devoured by the nearest Rock Lord.
As the Rock Lord prepared to return to sleep, it was suddenly transwarped to Earth when Bumblebee's fellow Autobots attempted to locate him. As the Sun shone down on it, the Rock Lord went on to destroy everything in its path, only for the technorganic Human/Cybertronian-hybrid Sari Sumdac to shatter the alien into hundreds of pieces. Though three smaller Rock Lords manifested from the first alien's shattered body, even they did not stand a chance.

- The Rock Lords are also featured in several stories revealed in the Facebook blog Transformers: Renegade Rhetoric and made cameos in IDW's The Transformers: Robots in Disguise issue #4.
- According to Hasbro designer Mark Maher, the Armorizers featured in the Transformers: Legacy‒United toyline are partially based on the Rock Lords.
