The Ribosians are the native Human-like inhabitants of the planet Ribos, three hundred light-years from the Magellanic Cloud. During some point in their history (likely early on) they were known to operate in a society reminiscent of Earth's Medieval Europe. Their homeworld has a highly elliptical orbit, with the sun near to one tip of the ellipse; resulting in that the planet alternates between an ice season and a sun season. Having not yet invented the telescope, the Ribosians believe these seasons are the result of an endless war between an ice god and a sun god. They further believe that their world is flat, and that the stars at night are merely ice crystals.
