The Reptilonians are a species (in the definition of being capable of natural interbreeding) of extraterrestrial evolved dinosaurs from the planet Reptilon (their name for Counter-Earth).
Physiology[]
Reptilonians are so named for their planet of origin. The species evolved from various dinosaurs that had been transplanted to that world from Earth by an unknown interstellar power. While 'race' is not something considered by modern Reptilonians the species shows clear lines of ancestry associated with the dinosaurs they evolved from with certain characteristics of mixed heritage in certain individuals (Quakie's sharp teeth despite clear resemblance to a duck bill and Allo's blunt teeth despite resemblance to the Allosaurus).
Race[]
While Reptilonians are not shown to express any concept of race that Earthlings would they do have a notion of 'types' with stereotypes attributed to them. These types being Avian, Aquatic, and Land. The mentality expressed by one Teryx is that Avians and Aquatics don't mix; specifically that relationships between them never work out while Land typed Reptilonians can pair with either of the other types. The once separate species of their ancestors somehow developed over time the capacity to interbreed though a Reptilonian tendency to resemble one of the ancestor species indicates that most Reptilonians breed with alike individuals even while aside from the Avian-Aquatic stereotype there is no taboo expressed towards procreation with unlike individuals.
With that being said here is a list of terrestrial species the Reptilonian population resembles and according to the results of devolver technology are descended from; Ankylosaurus, Apatosaurus, Archaeopteryx, Brachiosaurus, Deinoychus, Dimetrodon, Hadrosaurus, Ichthyosaurus, Pachycephalosaurus, Plesiosaurus, Pterodactyl, Stegosaurus, Styracosaurus, Triceratops, and Tyrannosaurus. They consider Earth's dinosaurs to be their cousins and where generally curious as to how their cousins went extinct until coming to the conclusion that cold weather killed them off. History[]
Prehistory[]
Reptilonians are descended from certain species of Earth's dinosaurs which where transplanted to a Counter Earth by an unknown interstellar power. Some of these transplanted individuals had already developed sapience, particularly members of the Elasmasaurus species. [Episode "Loch and Bay Gulls"] This power also transplanted some life from what would become Reptilon to Earth, specifically members of a species of violent aquatics presumably to make the water's safer for the Elasmasaurus species. This power also transplanted, late in their efforts, Saber-Toothed Tigers to Reptilon though such would be the last transplant they did before leaving the Sol system for unknown reasons. In isolation Reptilon's new inhabitants evolved, possibly with some assistance from the mysterious power that brought them to Reptilon, into a single species save for the Saber-Toothed Tigers who differed so greatly that interbreeding was impossible.
Early History[]
Little is known about Reptilons earliest civilizations. Reptilon was at one point a divided world. It went through technological eras resembling Earth's Medieval and Renaissance eras. Their sciences eventually, during an industrial era, developed devolving technology (possibly based on alien tech from their mysterious benefactors). During what they consider their Early Space Age a technology, Dinovolving, was perfected by the scientist Stego-Ra. Before fleeing Reptilon to get away from rival scientist Stego-Ra entrusted the secret of this technology to the Dinosourcer and Dinosourceress of the Dinosaucers, one of the world's polities. None of his rivals could do what he had accomplished and thus the secret remained hidden. The technology permitted a Reptilonian to physically take on the form of one of the dinosaurs they where descended from while maintaining their sapient and sentient minds. Existing devolver technology could only transform but not maintain the individual's self leaving only a savage beast.
The War[]
Reptilon was unified by the Tyrannos during a global conflict that raged against the Saber-Toothed felinoids that had evolved alongside the Reptilonians. This war of expulsion occurred during their late space age. The felinoids developed Fosselizer weapons to use against the Reptilonians but where no match to the combined power of Reptilon's Reptilonian nations and they where expelled to live as pirates raiding Reptilon from the stars. The aftermath of this war was a united world government beneath the Great Ruler or Genghis Rex as the title is translated.
Curiosity About Earth and Globalized Society[]
Reptilon had long known about Earth though the era of global peace allowed this curiosity to become focused. Reptilonians amassed a number of items of Earth origin and studied broadcasts to gleam knowledge. A global police force, the Reptilonian Police, was established during this era as power was consolidated. Free of war between themselves the Reptilonian population boomed after the conflict and began to strain the planet's power infrastructure. Additionally, Reptilon's volcanic activity had lead to increasingly colder temperatures and the public became concerned over the prospect of global cooling.
A Solution in Earth[]
It was only natural that Reptilonians began to see Earth as a potential solution to both problems. Theoretically the planet would have some level of Dinocium, an element used to produce energy on Reptilon, and it's lands could be inhabited to solve the population concern and perhaps if need be provide a warmer world to reside on should the concern over Reptilon's volcanic ash be proven valid. Earth as a solution was never an issue; rather how to approach the matter was.
The current Genghis Rex, representing the state of the Tyrannos and most of the world's population, wished to conquer and colonize Earth- solving the need for living space and Reptilon's energy crisis.
The Dinosourcer and Dinosourceress wished to negotiate with Earth to secure a means of peaceful migration and trade to obtain dinocium. As this approach was unfavored, the two sent a group of their citizens (the Dinosaucers) to Earth to hinder Genghis Rex's efforts in launching a surprise attack on the world.
A Secret War[]
On Earth the Tyrannos and Dinosaucers skirmished in secret while learning about the planet they where both interested in until a sudden event changed everything. The Saber-toothed felinoids, forced to live as pirates after their exile from Reptilon, had also eyed Earth as potentially providing them with a new home. The felinoids invaded and the two Reptilonian factions stopped fighting to keep the world from falling into felinoid control. In so doing their presence was revealed to the people of Earth and the secret war put into a truce. Publicly, with no knowledge of Genghis Rex's ambition, the people of Earth gifted Reptilon with Cat Nip which had proven a valued asset against the felinoids during their failed invasion.
Cold Situation[]
Unable to carry out the same conflict they had been the struggle between the Tyrannos and Dinosaucers became more tamed. Genghis Rex now had open relations with Earth, which was part of what the Dinosaucers wanted- peaceful relations- but still had the situation on Reptilon to attend to. His sister, the Regent of Reptilon in his absence, had a plan to use the truce to arrest the Dinosourcer and Dinosourceress for their role in hindering the colonization efforts. This plan however did not go well, and neither leader was held accountable. The attempt however did cause the Dinosaucers who had went back to Reptilon to return to Earth after the plan against them was revealed. They had returned to Reptilon thinking colonization efforts would discontinue following the establishment of diplomatic relations. Latter an attempt at deception was made to bring about a peace, one Dinosaucer and one Tyranno together trying to impersonate the 'preservers' - the aliens who brought Reptilonian ancestors to Reptilon. They had hoped to use this ruse to guide both factions back into unity but failed. Presently the two factions are stuck in a more talkative debate with minor inconveniences all while the people of Earth make their own developments which go largely unnoticed.
Culture[]
Reptilon culture is at times difficult to pin down as Teryx, the Dinosaucer's resident Anthropologist and a former actress, tries to understand Earth culture and comes up with some similarities that do not always end up accurate nor does she at times fully understand English words. For example; Teryx is on her world what we'd call an Actress but when first informed that acting is pretending to be someone you're not she states this to be wrong and states that such is lying. It's important to note in this situation that Teryx's work in what we'd call acting is actually in the realm of 'historical drama'. She portrays historical figures (ancient members of Reptilon's royalty). This is because all television on Reptilon, by global law, is educational and/or informative. Such is why the Dinosaucers initially believe everything they see on Human television and read in books (even fairytales). Things on Reptilon are quite literal so they don't understand why one would make things up. An example of the literal nature of their society can be found in a misunderstanding of the Earth term 'Kill the lights', which we understand means 'turn the lights off' but to them it literally meant shoot the light fixtures.

- Egg Day - Egg Day is the Reptilon equivalent to Birthday. Reptilonian's never developed the tradition of 'surprise parties' for this occasion but at some point in their past a customary 'party animal toy' became tradition, it's a little chomping Reptilonian like toy that activates when the toy shell holding it in place is opened. It's built in such away that it returns to it's egg for next year. [Episode "Happy Egg Day]
- Snarfling - Snarfling is some kind of activity involving flashy outfits. It's conducted by teenaged Reptilons and involves some level of dancing. It seems to likely involve some level of courtship with the flashy outfits meant to attract a Snarfling partner. It's not very clear what Snarfling is as it took Teyrx some time to determine what the word dance meant and we never get a definition of Snarfling though it may be their word for dating. - Reptile Fair - This is a global event where Reptilons dress up in costume to resemble their ancestors amid a feast of candy and roasted meat accompanied by dancing. It seems most Reptilons favor dressing in a fashion we'd call 16th or 17th century based though others prefer something more 19th or even medieval in attire (Teyrx being of the latter in preference). Reptilon's calendar is different then the Gregorian one of Earth. One of the days of the Reptilon week is Sauraday.
Government[]
Reptilon is in a sense united under the rule of the Genghis Rex (Great Ruler), but in another sense divided. It has a united police force and Tyranno law seems to be global (the Dinosorcerer and Dinosorceress both being accountable to it) with the colonization project regarding Earth being universally known and participated in. While Genghis Rex is on Earth his sister is acting Regent of Reptilon. The divide comes in with regard to the homeland of the Dinosaucers which is not completely free (it's rulers having to answer to Tyranno law) but highly autonomous with in the global government. Governance in both Tyranno and Dinosaucer is hereditary. Citizens of Reptilon seem to experience economic freedom (fast food chains and private businesses abound) but do not have any political rights (even in the Dinosaucer's home country). It's all very autocratic but not totalitarian. The government is a hereditary one and it seems that the idea of democracy has never occurred to them.
Economy[]
Reptilon has a very privatized economy and it's currency is called Dinodollars. They have a form of card based transaction as well. The only industry that seems to be heavily regulated is media, which is regulated to maintain honesty and promote educational programming. All other industry and enterprises, including museums, are privatized.
Trivia[]
- The civil war between two warring Reptilonian factions, Dinosaucers vs. Tyrannos, can be compared with that of two Cybertronian factions Autobots vs. Decepticons. In another comparison the Saber-Tooth Tigers resemble the Star Seekers, in that they have a culture reminiscent of terrestrial pirates.
