The Regorians are a humanoid species from the planet Regor 2.
History[]
In the 29th century the Regorian Prefect eager to reach out to the possibility of alien life sent out a message via micro wave array. The message attracted the attention of the Planetary Union ship, the USS Orville. First contact was initiated by Captain Mercer and introductions with the Regorian proceeded smoothly. However when Commander Kelly offered the Regorian delegation to her and Lt. Commander's birthday celebration, the Regorians reacted with agitation and detained the alien visitors.
It was learned that ther Regorians regarded those born during this time Giliacs, a sign associated with violence and murderers. The Regororians who were once hopefully of alien contact scorned The Orville crew and roughly detained Kelly and Bortus.
Mercer was under orders to refrain from using force to rescue his crew members. He attempted to reason with the Prefect only to be face with superstition and denial. Finally the crew devised a way to force the Regorians to accept the Giliacs via the an artificial re-birth of star as a sign of change. Upon seeing a star that had vanished millennia ago during which the Giliac sign was attributed to an omen, convinced the Regorians to liberate the remaining Giliacs in their society.
Biology[]
The Regorians are humanoid with silvery facial markings on their temples and chin.
Culture[]
Regorian civilization by the 29th century, was equivalent to mid-21st century Earth. While a technologically sophisticated the Regorians were heavily vested in the study of astrology. They strongly believe that the stars determine the fate of an individual, a common mantra being that the star don't lie. In fact all their orbital satellites are only equipped to study movement rather than stellar composition.
An astrological birth in the year of the Gilliac is seen as one who is destine for violence and degenerate.
The Regorians scorn Giliacs to the point that the state willingly commits C-setions on the mothers and premature births of infants just to avoid the astrological designation. Those unfortunate born under this sign are sent into concentration camps for their 'protection' however the treatment they suffer by the guards only serves to make them scapegoats to Regorian society.
