The Redolans are a species from an unknown planet.

Biology[]

Redolans are huge creatures about eight to ten feet tall. They are covered in entirely of at least five layers of something that could be anything from roughly woven fabric to animal skins. Beneath the layers their skins are dark green looking as if they are always sick. The appear to be at least mammalian as they fur part fur on their heads was a part of them.

They stood on two legs and had two arms. The massive creatures had no head to speak of and only had what passed as a fur-covered lump on their broad shoulders.

While it appears as if the Redolans have no eyes, but they do, in fact have four eyes and sharp ears. When sitting, they retracted their legs and sat like penguins; possessing big, three-toed feet sticking out from their layers of clothing.

Due to their appearance, Redolans can be mistaken for being menacing and not very smart, especially for being an advanced species to travel through space. They could easily be mistaken for giant, walking baseballs from a distance.

Though this belies a more troubling aspect of the species, in which they can excrete a scent that puts people into a very receptive mood. When under the influence of the scent, Redolans can be very persuasive and those affected drop their guard and disgust towards the aliens and feel compelled to follow their requests.

A purple flower that was originally made for healing was discovered to cause fear in the Redolans. Whenever in the presence of these plants the Redolans would always do their best to avoid contact. It is suspected that it is due to a severe allergic reaction.

Culture[]

Redolans appear to only speak a tiny bit of English, just enough for trade.

Redolans exist in various alternate realities. There are a few social differences in how they interact with the humans on Earth. But commonly Redolans seem to be very conscious in wearing overlapping layers of clothing and focused on trade. Most Redolan civilizations in the many dimensions discovered appear to be allegedly invested in the slave trade.

Technology wise they appear to be very advanced. Even against the 21st century of human society, the aliens had some kind of weapon that simply made all electronics shut off.

Earth[]

A primitive world where dinosaurs still roam the land. Human civilization flourishes in small communities that blend with the natural world. This applies to the inhabitants who enjoy being naturalists and thus never developed the need for clothes. Though their communities are simple, humanity on this Earth developed the portals to other dimensions though lack space flight capabilities. The Redolans first appeared as alien traders that occasionally come to trade with the human communities.

They seem to be very interested in humans. While they found humanity’s lack of clothes strange were always polite. The Redolans are very much into trade, and that includes anything, even living beings. They make it no secret that they see the humans as potential merchandise and openly discuss prices of those they want to buy even while in the presence of their human hosts.  The Redolans are always persistent in trying to ascertain the value of human individuals and buy them. The Redolans won’t outright kidnap anyone but let the men and women they meet make the decision themselves.

When the Redolans see someone who would get them a good price for something they approach them to try and talk them into selling themselves. Even though they have limited knowledge in speaking human languages, with a little prodding from their suggestive pheromones and taking no for an answer Redolans make for very persistent sales people and are sometimes successful in acquiring humans as merchandise.

Those who go willingly with the aliens are often the careless ones, or those who are emotionally vulnerable. The former are usually those who find themselves cornered by Redolan traders who politely ask them to come with them. Normally these lone individuals would reject such a request, but while under the influence of the alien’s scent find themselves charmed and unable to resist following the aliens wishes.

The latter are composed of those who suffered trauma of losing all their loved ones. Having nothing left to live some submit themselves into selling themselves for an opportunity to get offworld. The peaceful humans know about their manipulation but made no proactive policy to stop the aliens, as the responsibility of a person’s fate rest in the individual and not the community. While it’s pitiful for those to fall under the allure of the aliens in selling themselves into slavery, the human community find it acceptable as there is hope of a new life in the stars. Profits from the sales of those who sell themselves go to the community they leave behind.

Though some individuals who are immune to the scent sometimes intervene if they feel the aliens are overstepping themselves in their fellow humans’ privacy and preying on the vulnerable. Later on it was discovered a certain genetically engineered purple flower created on Earth causes a severe allergic reaction to the Redolans making an effective repellant, causing the aliens to abandon Earth and leave the human communities alone. Though gone, it’s believed that the Redolans may return this time with a solution to the flowers by disinfecting the planet to kill it off.

D-Earth[]

The real world Earth which is fraught with pollution and government corruption. The Redolans unlike their counterparts in the previous Earth are more war-like and aggressive, willing to kill to get what they want. Upon discovering Earth they immediately attacked its cities and infrastructure. They also weaponized their scent to draw all humans affected and take them prisoners. These Redolans are also no shy in using superior technology to incapacitate their enemies. The aliens in this dimension appear to be more sinister as it is said that they have a particular interest in stealing human children.

Most of the elite 1% were killed while they attempted to flee D-Earth to the previous Earth. They were content to leave behind the rest of their human brethren to the invaders. However during the crossing between dimensions, they were trapped in a inhospitable with the followers of the Sun Emperor, a dimensional conqueror from Yin-Earth who sought to invade D-Earth. In doing so it freed two worlds of their tyrants.

For the Redolans, once the purple flowers from the other Earth were introduced to D-Earth, the aliens are forced to surrender their human prisoners and stop their invasion.

Soran Earth[]

A Earth where humanity finally reached the stars. Travel between the moon and planets of the Solar System is simple as mass transit. This was all thanks to the Redolans, who provided the younger race with technology that led to Earth being rebuilt into a near utopia and then expanding to the other neighboring planets of Solar System. Poverty is eliminated and money is nonexistent and relies on an honor system of each citizen supporting each other. Humans of this reality don’t wear much clothing save for thongs for sanitary reasons when sitting in public spaces, though a minority exists that choose to devoid themselves of clothing.

In addition the Redolans use a bartering system that they use to trade “precious materials” from humans. These Redolans are aware of inter-dimensional travel but according to their human allies they prefer what they have in their own universe. Strangely the aliens are hinted to have influenced the shuttle system of the solar system, all passengers wear tracking codes on them for “shipping” to their destination analogous to the postal system. The Redolans of this dimension seem to also be more benevolent as they look out for the humans who are currently colonizing Mars worried for their safety due to the planet’s environmental conditions. Humans who heard of the actions of the Redolans’ counterparts are horrified of their atrocious behavior as the Redolans they are familiar with would never commit to such actions. It is unknown if the Redolans of this dimension possess the scent to influence those around them.
