The Recycler is a biomechanoid creature.
Biology[]
A creature that is 1.5 meters long, they resemble mobile living circuit boards with eight legs. Their origins and maker are a mystery. They are primitive bio-mechanoid creatures that can be programmed to seek out specific forms of material and transform them into something specific. Such as creating aluminum from ferrous iron or high-quality steel from rusting metal.
These creatures consume material and excrete in an unrefined form. The material is shapeless and can be forged or reshaped into something useful. Though this is only limited to simple compounds.
Recyclers only require light or stellar radiation for energy.
Normally they are found on large ships, breaking carbon dioxide into carbo and oxygen and recirculating it for the crew to breathe.
Though they can be found in manufacturing plants, breaking down waste into usable building materials and also in mining operations, digging tunnels. Pirates use recyclers to dispose of bodies or break into safes.
Although non-sentient, they are smart enough to recognize their keepers as well as strangers. Recyclers do not tolerate abuse, pain or torture. Keeping a recycler against is will is pointless as it can consume any material it comes in contact with.
Most recyclers have safeguards to prevent them from eating living or organic material, though pirates have been known to remove such safeguards.
They normally are found in groups of 10 or 20 and have strong social instincts. If one is removed from its group, it will grow listless until it interacts with others of its kind. They are also immune to all poisons, toxins and acidic damage.
