The Puazi are a species that have migrated to Earth.
Biology and gender[]
Puazi are less sexually dimorphic than humans. Both their males and females tend to be more slender and feminine by human standards. Primary differences between them are skin patterns and horn shapes.
A major difference between puazi and humans is gender and genital distribution. Culturally, Puazi children are not gendered until they hit puberty and start developing secondary sexual characteristics, which are often independent of their genitals. At which point they pick a gender based on how they're developing and feeling. As a result about 50% of adult puazi women have male genitalia and men female genitalia.
Puazi are on average physically weaker than humans, due to their more delicate bone structure. They also tend to weigh less than a human of equivalent size. They are, however, faster and more dexterous.
have a standard humanoid body-plan with two arms, two legs and an head that sports a mostly human-looking face. They resemble humans with subtle fawn-like features and unusually colored skin. Puazi are slightly shorter and have elongated ears, and their forehead is adorned with a small pair of horns, similar to miniature deer antlers. The shape and size of the antlers varies greatly from individual to individual. The tongue, blood, and mucous membranes of the Puazi are blue. Their eyes typically have white sclera, a blue, yellow or red iris and an horizontal pupil similar to a goat's. They have hair on their head, just like humans. Their hair is usually black. The Puazi have a short fawn-like tail.
Psychology[]
Puazi and humans are very similar psychologically for the most part. There is a lot of variance on a level of an individual, but when you zoom out to the level of species patterns emerge:
While humans are more prone to conflict on the ingroup-outgroup axis, Puazi are more likely to form alliances with outgroups. While they are no strangers to exploiting others, they prefer to avoid problems by making everybody at least somewhat happy.
Puazi tend to only ever use violence in a defensive context, if they have no choice. They are rather skittish and will run away from conflict more often than humans.
Sexually, Puazi are a lot more fluid than humans. While they do have preferences, very few of them are either strictly homo or hetero sexual. Furthermore, they tend to view sex and love as almost entirely separate. Many of them chafe at human's more strict sexual norms. Their attitudes towards gender are similar.
Due to a strange quirk of their biology the Puazi are hypersensitive to human pheromones. The strenght of the reaction varies from individual to individual. In the most serious cases just being in physical contact or even just being near a human can send the puazi in an intense state of heat, making difficult for them to control their urges.
History[]
Puazi were a slave species that managed to shake off their oppressors and escape on stolen colony ships. Their species originated billions of light-years away from earth, in an unknown part of space. They don't know how to Return home is. They nearly burned out their ships repeatedly wormhole-jumping with their whole fleet to get away from captures in their galaxy of origin in search of safety. As a result they arrived in the Milky Way in a dwindling fleet of half-working ships in a desperate need of a place to land. Earth being the only habitable planet in range they could reach after the last jump fried their wormhole-travel capabilities.
