Protectobots are a subspecies of rescue vehicle-themed Cybertronians from the planet Cybertron.
Biology[]
While also being a subgroup of Autobots, Protectobots consider themselves a species unto themselves.
Anatomy[]
Protectobots have similar biology to other Cybertronians, except that they transform into emergency, rescue and law enforcement vehicles such as fire engines, police cars, rescue helicopters, police motorcycles, and ambulances.
Powers and abilities[]
Protectobots share many of the same abilities as other Cybertronians.
Select Protectobots can combine to form a combiner known as Defensor. Alternatively, Protectobots can combine with other Cybertronians to form combiners such as Compurian, Sky Reign, Gaia Guardian, God Guardian, Modulus, and the Autobot Super Scramble.
Culture and society[]
Protectobots are dedicated to the protection of humans and their homes. To this end, they will respond to any manner of mundane human emergency and help in any way they can.
Protectobots are generally considered to be the mortal enemies of the Combaticons.
History[]
Aurex 1104.30-DB Zeta[]
According to Vector Prime, the TransTechs had been debating over whether this universe was a Primax-influenced Aurex universe or the other way around. Dr. Brian Jones attempted to reverse-engineer the Maximus combination technology and apply it to Mini-Cons.
These experiments resulted in the creation of the Micromaster combiners: the Aerialbots, the Protectobots, and the Railbots. However, the Decepticons stole this technology and used it to create their own Micromaster combiner, the Constructicons.
At some point, the Micromaster Protectobots were among the Cybertronians abducted by Unicron during the Universe War and imprisoned within the Cauldron. Liberated by Optimus Primal, they merged into Defensor and escaped along with many other abductees in a mass jailbreak.
Eventually returning to their home universe, Defensor joined Superion and Rail Racer in fighting against Devastator in the Combiner Wars as the Unicron Singularity drew near.

Notes[]
- According to unlockable concept art in the Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen game, the Protectobot designs are based on Generation 1 Protectobots.
- The Protectobot Scout design is based on Generation 1 Streetwise due to both of the turning into police cruisers, though the Scout is specifically modeled after a Dodge Charger.
- The Protectobot Sniper design is based on Generation 1 Blades due to both of them turning into helicopters, though the Sniper is thematically a police helicopter.
- The Protectobot Warrior design is based on Generation 1 Hot Spot due to both of them turning into truck-type emergency vehicles, though the Warrior is modeled after a Lenco Bearcat SWAT truck.
- The Protectobot Scout is available in the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC versions of the Revenge of the Fallen game as a multiplayer-only playable character, known in-game as simply "Protectobot".
- Protectobot Scout plays similarly to Bumblebee, using similar weapons and Vehicle Takedown (X Button on Xbox 360/Square Button on PS3) moves, though instead of ramming into the opponent like most other characters do, Protectobot Scout uses a back flip kick.
- The Protectobot can be unlocked for the single-player Autobot campaign (excluding Deep 6 because he is unable to fly) using an in-game cheat code, being RS, LB, LB, Y, X, A on the Xbox 360 version or R3, L1, L1, Triangle, Square, X on the PS3 version. Oddly enough, this code disables achievements and profiles but does not greatly affect gameplay.
- The Protectobot Scout and Warrior "appear" as playable designs for the Recruit in Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen: Autobots, with the Scout listed as Light (and sporting wheeled feet) whereas the Warrior is listed as Heavy.
- In the Revenge of the Fallen game, the Protectobot Scouts and Snipers share identical voicelines.
- Ken Christiansen, who designed the enemy unit designs for the Revenge of the Fallen game, was requested by Hasbro to change the rear stabilizer of the Protectobot Sniper's vehicle mode. His speculation is that Hasbro requested this to make the character model more similar to the Deluxe Class Blazemaster toy, for a potential Protectobot Sniper retooling.[1]
- Christiansen also credits Luxoflux art director Justin Thomas with co-designing the Protectobot Warrior.
